‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Matt Amodio Promises to Show ‘Full Power’ By Taking Down Ken Jennings and Other Legends

by Quentin Blount

Jeopardy! contestant Matt Amodio is in the history books. His name is right up there with the likes of Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, and Brad Rutter. But if he has it his way, it won’t be long before he is at the top of that list by himself.

There is really no denying just how dominant Matt Amodio has been since first stepping foot on the Jeopardy! stage. Since that time, he has put together an incredible 36-game winning streak. That number puts him in second place all-time only behind the legendary Ken Jennings. Amodio officially passed fellow Jeopardy! legend James Holzhauer, who was in second place, last week.

This whole experience has got to be pretty dang special for Amodio, the 30-year-old Ph.D. student at Yale University. He has grown up watching Jeopardy! ever since he was a little kid. During that time, he has watched Jennings, Rutter, and Holzhauer dominate in their own ways on the popular game show. But now the tables have turned. He is the one dominating and they are the ones watching him.

Amodio took to social media on Thursday afternoon to post screenshots of all three of the Jeopardy! stars talking about him. He cropped the photos together and said that will unlock his “full Jeopardy! powers.”

“Little did they know… when I collect all 3, it unlocks my full #Jeopardy powers!” Amodio captioned the photo.

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Are Cheering On Matt Amodio

Records are meant to be broken, right? Even the ones that seem completely and utterly unattainable like Ken Jennings’ 74 consecutive games won on Jeopardy!. But Matt Amodio is nearly halfway to Jennings’ record and he doesn’t look like he is slowing down anytime soon.

Fans of the popular show are cheering him on. One fan replied to him on Twitter complimenting his game strategy and telling him to ignore the haters.

“Looking forward to win #37, Matt. Don’t let the haters get you down. You are still winning games. And that is what matters. If I were on the show, I would be conservative in my daily doubles, too. Good strategy, keep at it.”

And there was another fan who was thinking exactly what we were. They wanted to know how Amodio felt now that all of the Jeopardy! greats are watching him on TV.

“Lol, how does that feel to know that all three are watching YOU on Jeopardy! now?”

Amodio’s reply back to them perfectly sums up his competitive nature.

“Embarrassing,” he said. “Because I’m sure they know all the ones I miss.”

It’s safe to say that Matt Amodio and his competitive side perfectly fits in with the rest of the Jeopardy! greats. We’ll have to wait and see just how far that will take him.
