There are few things more exciting in the world of game shows than a “Jeopardy!” contestant running through a hot streak.

After winning two straight “Jeopardy!” episodes in a row, Missouri native Sandy Olive is heating up. Olive is a High School English teacher from St. Louis, Missouri and she has now surpassed $50,000 in winnings through two episodes. She is set to appear for a third consecutive episode later on this evening (Thursday) as she looks to add to her already impressive winning totals.

Olive dominated Wednesday’s episode, maintaining a lead for most of the competition. She also went into Final Jeopardy! with a sizable lead and never looked back. In Final Jeopardy! she was the only contestant to come up with the correct answer to the final clue given by current guest host Savannah Guthrie. She would finish up yesterday’s episode with more than $30,000 in winnings. In her first match, she even got a question about a famous baseball stadium in her hometown that she also was able to quickly answer.

In an interview with a St. Louis-based news station, Olive spoke about her experience on the show. “Jeopardy!” episodes are filmed well in advance of reaching air so the high school teacher didn’t share great details. One fascinating tidbit Olive did share is just where the contestants were kept while waiting to appear on the show.

“The holding area was actually the “Wheel of Fortune” set and we just sat there, like in the audience of Wheel of Fortune, while they were doing work on the set,” she tells the news outlet.

She also says that while on the set of “Wheel of Fortune” she got a hankering that and all of us can understand.

“And the Wheel was covered in a big plastic sheet with a sign that said ‘do not touch the wheel,”” she recalls. “And I wanted to touch the wheel so bad and I thought If you touch that wheel and they send you home from Jeopardy! … I was like, It’s not worth it, it’s not worth the risk to touch the wheel.”

Smart move, Sandy.

St. Louis-area “Jeopardy!” fans will also be rooting for Sandy as she goes for three wins in a row on tonight’s brand new episode.

Guthrie, a journalist and television news anchor by trade, will remain the “Jeopardy!” host through the remainder of the week. Her final episode as guest host is set to air tomorrow (Friday). Guthrie’s appearance on the show is raising money for The Bowery Mission, which seeks to assist New York’s homeless individuals.

Fellow journalist and CNN Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta will begin his tenure as guest host on Monday. he will be followed by “Good Morning America” co-anchors George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts. Television personality LeVar Burton, sports broadcaster Joe Buck and journalist David Faber will round out the list of “Jeopardy!” guest hosts.
