What do James Holzhauer and Ken Jennings have in common? They’re both ‘Jeopardy!’ champions, winning large quantities of cash. And as it turns out, they’re both sports fans as well.

Sports has notoriously been a hard category on the show. Many would-be champs have struggled with answering sports questions to heartbreaking and sometimes hilarious results. But given a recent photo, both Holzhauer and Jennings appear to be fans of baseball.

The two men are also close friends and can often be found teasing each other on social media. Both combine immense intellect and sharp wit to make for a hilarious duo. Though “Jeopardy!” is what they have in common, they seem to enjoy the time they get to spend together.

The two competed against each other in last year’s “Greatest of all Time” tournament to determine the best player. Jennings emerged victorious in the tournament, defeating Holzhauer and fellow former contestant Brad Rutter. Since then, the duo has a hilariously playful relationship that makes their interactions comedic gold.

The “Jeopardy!” champs took in a baseball game together recently at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park. On Wednesday, it was Holzhauer getting in a barb against his former game show opponent.

“48,000 seats at T-Mobile Park and I had to pick this one,” he says in the tweet.

‘Jeopardy!’ Champs Share a Close Bond

Ken Jennings is most known for the 2004 74-game winning streak that made him a household name among “Jeopardy!” fans. He is widely considered to be the most successful game show contestant of all time, raking in more than $4.5 million in total winnings. He’s appeared in several other editions of “Jeopardy!” as wells other game shows like “The Chase.”

Holzhauer is the third-highest earning game show contestant of all time and is known for his 32-game winning streak in 2019. He would later win the 2019 “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions later in the year. He won more than $2.4 million during his “Jeopardy!” appearances. His later tournament appearances boosted his total winnings to near $3 million. Like Jennings, Holzhauer has also appeared on “The Chase.”

Earlier this year, Jennings filled the role of “Jeopardy!” guest host for six weeks in place of the late Alex Trebek. The longtime host passed away late last year after battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer. He recorded his final episodes just days before his death on November 8. Jennings has long noted that Trebek is a personal hero of his and an inspiration while he stood behind the “Jeopardy!” podium.

A “Jeopardy!” fan-favorite among watchers of the show, Jennings’s tenure as guest host went very well. He drew an excellent score of 6.0 on the Nielsen Rating scale during his hosting tenure. Some fans have clamored for him to receive consideration for the permanent gig once the show decides to take that route. It remains to be seen with “Jeopardy!” will name a new full-time host.
