Sometimes, asking a colleague for help is, well, helpful. In Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s case, it might not have helped a lot for “Jeopardy!”.

Gupta, who starts hosting the game show on Monday, works at CNN alongside correspondent Anderson Cooper. Now Cooper already did a two-week stint as guest host on “Jeopardy!” so he knew what was going to face Gupta.

Um, but he might have left his co-worker feeling a bit shakier entering his time.

“Anderson was also super nervous, which made me feel even more nervous,” Gupta says in an interview with “Jeopardy!” on its YouTube channel. “So I don’t know if that worked in my favor or not.

‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Says CNN Colleague Had Lots Of Reminders With Him

“But Anderson had a lot of reminders, I think, about the fact that this really is a fast-paced show, you know,” Gupta says. “And that Alex [Trebek] made it look just so easy. So I had that in the back of my head here as well.”

Gupta, who is the chief medical correspondent for CNN, says he knew that as easy as it might look because of how good Trebek was doing it, “I needed to do my work.”

“I needed to do my homework,” he says. “[And] I need to get the beats right and just take my time.”

“Jeopardy!” fires up on Monday with Gupta behind the podium, facing three contestants per show. It’s an atmosphere that definitely keeps guest hosts on their toes. Viewers will get a chance to weigh in on whether or not they like what they’re seeing in Gupta’s performance.

One thing viewers can trust already is that he will not be in line to become the next full-time host on “Jeopardy!”. He’s got enough on his plate not only through his work on CNN but being quite active in the medical field itself.

Buzzy Cohen Weighs In With Observation Regarding Guest Hosts

Leave it to “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions winner and former guest host Buzzy Cohen to come along with an observation for the day.

Cohen has been keeping up with the list of guest hosts for the popular game show. After all, he’s a fan of it, too.

Something, though, recently caught his eye and he sent out a social media post about this particular observation.

“So after 2 weeks of a guest host with the initials “S.G.” we now embark on 2 more weeks of an “S.G.” hosting. What’s the significance?!?! I DON’T KNOW!! #Jeopardy” he sent out via Twitter on June 25. Cohen included a GIF of Pee-Wee Herman, too.

What might even trip out Cohen more is that after Gupta gets done, then two weeks of George Stephanopoulos hosting follows next. He’ll go from seeing hosts with “S.G.” as their initials to one with “G.S.” for theirs.
