“Jeopardy!” fans had mixed reviews about the latest guest host George Stephanopoulos‘ first night as the game show host.

The “Good Morning America” co-anchor will be at the helm for the rest of this week, until Friday, July 16. Then, he’ll pass the “Jeopardy!” baton onto fellow “GMA” co-anchor Robin Roberts.

According to the entertainment website ENSTARZ, some fans are choosing to boycott the show because they dislike Stephanopoulos so much. Some of the hate stems from his performance last night and some from a personal objection to Stephanopoulos as a person.

“Well this is two weeks this loyal Jeopardy viewer won’t be watching,” one user tweeted. Another called Stephanopoulos’ performance “hot garbage.” One viewer said they’re “not a fan” because he’s “so very smug.”

“For the first time in my life I will have to pass on watching. Anybody but @GStephanopoulos,” another said.

ENSTARZ quoted one “Jeopardy!” fan who said, “My God!!! Could someone get George Stephanopoulos to clear his throat and perhaps a lozenge for his dry mouth?”

Several Fans Also Supported the Latest ‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host

Not all of the fan input was negative. Several people also congratulated Stephanopoulos on doing well for his first “Jeopardy!” hosting gig. One eager Twitter user even said, “LOVE IT! The search is over, the new permanent ‘Jeopardy!’ host should be George Stephanopoulos!”

Another tweeted, “George Stephanopoulos was my first choice and he is doing awesome.”

This user congratulated both Stephanopoulos and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, who was the “Jeopardy!” host for the last two weeks. “You are fabulous so far along with @drsanjaygupta. You are the two many of us will be watching. Intelligent, intuitive, articulate, and kind. A great formula for success!”

One fan even called out fellow commenters for basing their opinions on Stephanopoulos’ politics. “Boycott Jeopardy because you don’t agree with the host’s politics? When you go into 7-11, do you ask the kid behind the register who he voted for, and then decide if you want to get a Slurpee and a corn dog?” the user said.

“Great job” was passed along by several users on Twitter who were pleased with the GMA anchor’s performance last night. Some even went so far as to say Stephanopoulos was the “best” or their “favorite” so far out of all the guest hosts. Former hosts include 74-time “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings, NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Dr. Oz, journalist Katie Couric, actress Mayim Bialik, “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, and the show’s executive producer Mike Richards.

And there’s one fan-favorite guest still to come: LeVar Burton. Hundreds of thousands of fans signed a Change.org petition to get the “Reading Rainbow” host on “Jeopardy!” as a guest host. He’ll be taking the reins the week after Robin Roberts, with David Faber and Joe Buck following afterward.
