Anderson Cooper started his time behind the podium on the “Jeopardy!” studio last week. Now, his time hosting the popular game show is entering its second week.

“Jeopardy!” has been going through a series of different guest hosts since the beloved longtime host, Alex Trebek, passed away in November. Ken Jennings, Mike Richards, Aaron Rodgers, Katie Couric, and Dr. Mehmet Oz have all been on the stage so far.

Anderson Cooper is no stranger to hosting. The journalist has had his own show on CNN, “Anderson Cooper 360°” since 2003. He has also done a variety of different jobs as an anchor, was a reality game show host and was a fill-in for a morning talk show host.

So, how have fans responded to him as guest host of the popular trivia show?

Anderson Cooper Fan Response

Like all the guest hosts so far, Cooper is receiving both positive and negative reviews on social media. It’s only natural. However, a lot of them are tilted toward the positive.

One user also wrote, “I haven’t watched Jeopardy in a few years and I loved seeing Anderson Cooper as the host. Keep him if you can. I’ll continue to watch. Thanks Kelly for letting us know he’d be the host.”

A lot of people are also gravitating to Cooper’s calm and collected tone of voice. It’s something he has mastered as the host of his own show. However, it turns out that is a major selling point for people in a game show host as well.

Some people are comparing him to Mike Richards, who was also quite popular as a host. When talking about Cooper’s performance one social media user wrote, “He’s a professional.” Some fans are even saying they would be happy if Cooper was the permanent host. Although, that seems unlikely given his current schedule and other responsibilities.

Cooper even responded to a fan saying he did excellent on the first night. He wrote on Twitter, “thanks so much… it’s so much fun and the players have been excellent!”

Media Response to ‘Jeopardy!’ Host

According to a poll from TV Insider, 2,275 people think he is “fitting in well.” Then there are 1,748 people who think he should be the permanent host. There are 1,296 people who said, “I don’t think he fits in as host.”

USA Today has him ranked as No.3 out of the hosts so far. The publication claims “he took a bit too long to acknowledge right or wrong answers, and spent too much time apologizing to contestants who get it wrong.” However, he is quick with a joke and naturally suave and easygoing.

Fans are also hoping that a guest host that has not yet appeared on the show will eventually be crowned the permanent, long-term host of the show. Most of the responses to Cooper’s presence on the show have been met with positivity on Twitter.

The list of guest hosts is a long one as “Jeopardy!” tests a wide variety of people. The show is also keeping things new and interesting by constantly swapping out well-known figures for the role.

Bill Whittaker, Mayim Bialik, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Buzzy Cohen, George Stephanopoulos, Robin Roberts, LeVar Burton, David Faber, and Joe Buck are also set to appear on the show this season. LeVar Burton is known for hosting a PBS Kids series called “Reading Rainbow” for over 23 years. He also appeared on “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Roots.”

According to NPR, LeVar Burton got the chance to guest host after 250,000 people signed a petition backing his appearance on the show. He wrote on Twitter, “I am overjoyed, excited, and eager to be guest-hosting Jeopardy!”

The show is expecting to have a permanent host in place at the start of next season.
