‘Jeopardy!’ History Made Thanks to Matt Amodio & New Champ Jonathan Fisher

Since the death of famed “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, the beloved American game show has gained much media attention. Earlier this season we saw drama ensue surrounding controversy related to previous game show host and producer, Mike Richards. With the adapted regularity of current host Mayim Bialik, viewership has dynamically increased. However, the show’s popularity grew when 38-game champ Matt Amodio began his historic streak.

Several months into this season of “Jeopardy!” it appears the game show isn’t done making headlines. While viewers remain highly disappointed at Matt Amodio’s upset of a loss, a new contestant has emerged with a 10-game winning streak.

The current reigning champ, Jonathan Fisher, is held responsible for defeating the now-legendary Matt Amodio. Following host Mayim Bialik’s prediction at a new “Jeopardy!” streak, Fisher quickly found his way to media headlines.

According to “Jeopardy!’s” latest Instagram post, “It’s the season of super champs!” The game show added that this marks the first time in history that “Jeopardy!” has seen “back-to-back double digit champions.”

While Fisher has quickly made “Jeopardy!” history with his 10-game winning streak, he still has quite a ways to go if he wants to pose any sort of threat to Matt Amodio’s historic streak. Longtime fans of the hit game show know Amodio’s iconic win comes only second to “Jeopardy!” legend, Ken Jennings. The historic show champion boasts an incredibly long streak of 74 winning games.

Regardless, the remainder of this season promises to be interesting should Fisher continue his winning streak as Amodio did. As “Jeopardy!” shared on Instagram, it will definitely make for a historic milestone.

New ‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Initiates Reign with Quirk Similar to Amodio’s

There’s no doubt that this ongoing season of “Jeopardy!” has made for some historic milestones and moments. And while it’s added to the popularity of the show, it appears some of our contestants have some noticeable quirks and fans aren’t sure how to react.

As I said before, early in Matt Amodio’s winning streak, the contestant caught heat for answering every single “Jeopardy!” question with the word, “What’s…” rather than differentiating between people and things with the appropriate, “Who’s…”

Now, it appears our latest winning champ has a quirk of his own and, once again, fans are divided. Though seemingly innocent, game show fans have pointed out how Matt Fisher bobs his head along to the “Final Jeopardy” music. While it appears the show is using the habit to their advantage from a marketing stand point (see below), fans can’t decide whether or not they can cheer him on as they adapt to the quirk.

As many “Jeopardy!” fans did with Amodio, many have already written off the contestant and his head-bobbing. “He irks me, why???” pondered one follower. Others were much blunter in their considerations. “Smirky, eye rolls, and sooo proud of himself when correct!”

No doubt, the transition to “Jeopardy!” without the beloved Matt Amodio proves to be difficult for game show fans. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see where the season takes Fisher and his head-bobbing antics.
