by Keeli Parkey

A very wise saying teaches us that “all good things must come to an end.” This is a lesson that “Jeopardy!” champion Matt Amodio has just learned.

As many of you Outsiders are aware, Amodio’s famously successful run in the popular game show has come to an end. During his tenure as a repeat champion, the 30-year-old Ph.D. student at Yale broke records and earned a lot of money.

According to Variety, Amodio was ousted as “Jeopardy!” champion in the episode that aired on Monday, Oct. 11. In this episode, Amodio was not able to offer the correct answer to the clue presented in Final Jeopardy. That failure led to his loss.

It’s safe to assume that Matt Amodio is sad to see his tenure on “Jeopardy!” come to an end. That would be something most of us would feel in the same circumstances. However, the significant amount of money he earned during his historic run on the game show will help ease his pain.

So, how much money did Matt Amodio earn during this 38-game winning streak on “Jeopardy!”? After all his work, he walked away with $1,518,601 in cash earnings. That’s a pretty great payday and one many of us would love to have.

Even though his run on “Jeopardy!” has come to an end, fans should look back and be impressed with all that Matt Amodio accomplished during his 38-game winning streak. During that run, he reached the No. 2 spot in the rankings of winning players in terms of consecutive games won. Ken Jennings sits at the very top of those rankings. He won 74 consecutive games.

Jennings won $2,520,700 during his iconic run. His fellow “Jeopardy!” champion, James Holzhauer earned $2,462,216 during his winning streak on the show. As far as Amodio’s place in terms of money won, Amodio comes in third place behind Jennings and Holzhauer.

Matt Amodio Shares Statement Following the End of His Very Successful Run on ‘Jeopardy!’

In a statement that was released by Matt Amodio following the end of his very successful run on “Jeopardy!” he reflected on his time on the popular game show.

“I always wanted to be a ‘Jeopardy!’ champion, and I accomplished that. l know going into every bar trivia game that I play that I’m going to come in with a little intimidation factor. But also, I just like the badge that it represents. As somebody who prioritizes knowledge and knowing things, this is really a good one to have following me everywhere,” Amodio shard.

Unsurprisingly, Amodio will be a competitor in a future “Jeopardy!” competition. That competition, of course, is the “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions.

So, what Final Jeopardy clue was the “final” one for Matt Amodio. Well, it involved the World War II era. It was: “Nazi Germany annexed this nation and divided it into regions of the Alps and the Danube; the Allies later divided it into four sectors.”

Matt Amodio wrote down Poland for his answer. However, the correct answer was Austria. This gave contestant Jonathan Fisher the victory. Finishing in second place was Jessica Stephens of Nashville, Tennessee. Amodio came in third place.
