‘Jeopardy!’ Ken Jennings Can Only Repeat What He Sees in Hilarious Tweet About Diddy’s Recent Post

by John Jamison

In case you haven’t heard, you too can have the pleasure of enjoying some tropical fruit seaside. As a treat. How? Simple. Just put in the work. At least that’s what record executive Sean “Diddy” Combs would have us believe.

He made headlines with a recent Instagram post saying as much. And “Jeopardy!” legend Ken Jennings could do nothing more than restate one of said headlines.

For reference, the Instagram video posted by Diddy finds him standing beside an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. He enjoys a few bites of sliced mango, tells his fans that they can eat mango in front of the ocean too, and then proceeds to jump into the pool.

“You could be eating mango, too, with the ocean as your background,” he said. “I ain’t special, I just want it, I want it bad. I will not allow myself to not have mango,” Diddy says in the video. “Gotta hustle hard, you feel me?” He continued through a mouthful of mango.

The message goes along with the caption of his Instagram post. He talks about growing up poor and waking up to find cockroaches on his face.

Seeing the headline of an article from The Week, “Diddy says if you work hard, you can eat mango in front of the ocean,” “Jeopardy!” icon Ken Jennings copied and pasted it into his text field on Twitter and sent it out.

There are a few ways to take it. It almost sounds like Diddy is permitting us to eat mango in front of the ocean. In that context, the headline is hilarious. On the other hand, it’s just a successful record executive sharing a “pull yourself up by the bootstraps” type message.

How Did the ‘Jeopardy!’ Icon’s Twitter Following Take It?

The nature of the tweet made for some hilarious replies. It’s such a refreshingly straightforward tweet from an otherwise very clever and observational Twitter personality.

“It’s true, though. I tried it once and the ocean slapped the mango out of my hand and said, “Nice try. You don’t work that hard.” Busted,” one Twitter user replied, making the ocean out to be the enforcer of mango enjoyment.

“I’m VERY lazy and, not to brag, have eaten mango by the ocean lots of times. Nbd,” another added, flying in the face of Diddy’s entire message.

“This is the kind of news the world deserves,” another replied, tired of all the negativity in the media.

Of all the tweets from the “Jeopardy!” champion, this one required perhaps the least amount of work for the biggest payoff. Jennings just sat back and let Diddy take care of the content.
