While Ken Jennings may be a serious Jeopardy! master, his light-hearted side, and his sense of humor and regularly on display.
Maybe, Ken Jennings is a fan of the early 2000s hit drama series, Friday Night Lights. Or Ken Jennings is simply fond of Kyle James. Or, maybe it’s both. Either way, the 2004 Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings recently found a Friday Night Lights Blue-ray disc to be quite amusing. Jennings then shared his amusement on Twitter.
“I like this box set because Kyle Chandler knows he’s on a Blu-ray,” Jennings said in the June 15 tweet. Ken Jennings then posted a photo along with the comment.
The photo posted with the tweet shows a Friday Night Lights Blue-ray cover. The cover features actor Kyle Chandler’s face on the front. In the photo, Chandler is glancing upwards, as if he were reading the Blue-ray label.
Friday Night Lights was a hit drama series that aired on NBC from 2006 until 2011.
Inspired by the 2004 film of the same name, Friday Night Lights focuses on the high expectations faced by the high school football community in rural America. The series starred Kyle Chandler as the high-school football coach, Eric Taylor, Connie Britton played Chandler’s on-screen wife, Tami.
While it’s not certain whether or not the Jeopardy! Champion, Ken Jennings is a fan of the Friday Night Lights series, or if he was simply admiring the packaging Jennings’s certainly recognized the face on the Blue-ray’s cover.
From Contestant to Producer, to Host; Ken Jennings Has Many Roles on ‘Jeopardy!’
Ken Jennings became a household name in 2004 when he took on the answer and question game show Jeopardy in a 74-episode streak. In total, the Jeopardy! champ’s streak earned over $2.5 million.
Jennings recently joined the Jeopardy! team, becoming an executive producer for the long-running quiz show. After longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in the fall of 2020, Jenning’s was one of the multiple guest hosts asked to fill Trebek’s hosting duties. Jennings was one of the first to step behind the podium hosting episodes from January 4, 2021, to February 19, 2021. The gig was surely an interesting twist for the Jeopardy! GOAT contestant, when he had the opportunity to read the answers for the contestants to come up with the correct questions.
