‘Jeopardy!’: Ken Jennings Reveals the Hilarious ‘True Test for Generation X’

by Thad Mitchell

Ken Jennings’ run as celebrity guest host of popular quiz show “Jeopardy!” is complete and it is safe to say he made the most of it.

By practically every measure, Jennings is the most successful game show contestant in history. His success on Jeopardy! lead to his appearance as a guest host on the show for the past couple of weeks. Jeopardy! is trying out several guest hosts as the shows looks to replace legendary host Alex Trebek. The longtime host passed away late last year, losing his battle to pancreatic cancer in November 2020.

Aside from his long run as Jeopardy! champion, Ken Jennings is likely most known for his wit. He often uses social media to interact with fans and followers and prefers to draw laughter from them. On Monday, the 46-year-old Jennings took to Twitter in an effort to provide some comedic relief during the country’s trying times. He uses his own generation as the target for some observational humor.

“The true test for Generation X is if whether or not you ever though Marc McClure was the biggest movie star in the world because he was in Freaky Friday and Superman and Back to the Future,” he says.

The movies mentioned in his social media post were big hits around the time Generation Xers were maturing. The 63-year-old McClure had a large role in each of the movies. He plays Dave McFly in “Back to the Future,” Jimmy Olsen in “Superman” and Borris Harris in “Freaky Friday.”

Ken Jennings Wraps Up Stint as Jeopardy! Host

Jennings wrapped up his residency as Jeopardy! guest host last week. He might also get consideration for the full time gig when show executives decide to pursue a new full time host in the future.

Jennings became a star in 2004 when he won 74 straight episodes of Jeopardy!, making him the longest reining champion in the show’s history. With his time as guest of the show over, show producer Mike Richards is up next to host the show.
