‘Jeopardy!’: Ken Jennings Won Impressive Amount in ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’ Appearance

Ken Jennings is a Jeopardy! superstar. The greatest of all time actually. He is currently wrapping up his guest-hosting segment for the massively successful show.

Additionally, he holds the record for winning the most consecutive games of the show in a row. He actually had a 74-game win streak that earned him $2,520,700.

Somewhat recently though, Ken Jennings went on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. And true to his character, he had an absolutely astounding performance on the popular show.

In 2014, Ken Jennings was invited to play on the popular game show for some special episodes. The episode was running for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire‘s Guinness World Records week-long series. Terry Crew was hosting the show and was doing his best to stump the professional game show participant.

Ken Jennings Dazzles on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”

Terry Crews was astutely cognizant of the company he was in when Ken Jennings walked onto the set. He even remarks that “It’s like being with the Michael Jordan of game shows.”

Although his success on the show wasn’t as awesome as it was on Jeopardy!, it was still incredible. The game show superstar made it to the final four questions, with ascending values for each correct answer. In order, the questions are worth $100,000, $250,000, $500,000 and $1 million.

He got the first question correct but was ultimately stumped on the second question. So, he left Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with an impressive $100,000.

After going on the show, Ken Jennings gave an interview talking about the differences between his two shows. He talks about the difference in pressure between Jeopardy! and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.

“The crucial obvious difference is, on Jeopardy!, you don’t have to answer every question. If you answer every other question, you’re going to be a pretty dominating player. You can also keep your mouth shut. … On Millionaire, the emphasis is on not making a single mistake. So, that’s a lot of pressure.”

This is not the first time that Ken Jennings has been associated with the game show. In fact, in 2008 and 2009 he was serving as an “Ask the Expert” for the show. This is an incredibly noteworthy position that he certainly didn’t take lightly.

Interestingly enough, back in 1999, when the show was first becoming popular. But, Regis Philbin never gave him a call back about coming onto the show. So, in essence, his 2014 performance was making up for not getting a call-back on his attempt to get onto the show.
