The more current “Jeopardy!” champion Jonathan Fisher keeps winning, the more we learn about him as a person and a player. But not all fans are sure how they feel about the new champion.

Especially since several people cheered for longtime champ Matt Amodio, who won 38 games before falling to Fisher last week. The comparison is inevitable, if a little unfair, to Fisher, who’s done a decent job staying in the competition. He’s won nine straight games so far, and tonight could be his tenth win.

But “Jeopardy!” fans just can’t decide if they should root for him or not. The conversation between both sides came to a head after the game show posted a recent gif of Fisher on Instagram. The clip shows Fisher bobbing his head, and the caption reads, “Who else bobs their head to the ‘Think!’ music like our 9-game champion?”

Some fans took the time to answer the question honestly. Others came right after Fisher.

“He irks me, why???” one user commented on the post. At least 30 people liked the comment. One person replied, “He is not Matt?” That seems to be the crux of several people’s arguments about Fisher.

“Smirky, eye rolls, and sooo proud of himself when correct! This guy makes James [Holzhauer] look humble!” another person wrote. Holzhauer held the second-place spot for consecutive wins (32) until Amodio came along.

“Can we have the last guy back?” someone else said. But Fisher’s fans didn’t take these criticisms lying down.

“Love him. Hopes he wins as much as Matt,” one person commented. “Dude’s a legend already,” another person said.

“TBH my family and I call him dandelion because of his hair and we love him,” someone else wrote.

Former ‘Jeopardy!’ Champ Matt Amodio Cheers on Successor, Jonathan Fisher

Despite the hard loss, former “Jeopardy!” champ Matt Amodio has been nothing but supportive of new champ Jonathan Fisher. Amodio took to Twitter earlier this week to congratulate Fisher on continuing his win streak.

“Way to keep it rolling, @JFishtheDish!” Amodio captioned the post. He also posted a GIF from “Ted Lasso” where the character points to the word “Believe.”

Amodio also extended his congrats on Monday. The former “Jeopardy!” champ knows that “Mondays” are really the first of five games in a row, taped in one day. Winning the first one starts your momentum for the rest of the “week.”

“Congratulations, @JFishtheDish! Winning #Jeopardy on a Monday can be hard!” Amodio said.

We can’t wait to see these two potentially battle it out again in the upcoming Tournament of Champions. Both winners should be making an appearance, but we don’t know if we’ll see them face off against one another during tournament play.
