‘Jeopardy!’ Legend Buzzy Cohen Looks Forward To Tournament of Champions Reruns Airing

by John Jamison

The “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions took place in May. Yet the past three months have felt like an eternity in terms of the game show’s timeline. Former contestant and tournament winner himself, Buzzy Cohen, hosted the event. Now, amid all of the hosting drama surrounding the show, fans will get to watch Cohen and enjoy some simpler “Jeopardy!” times in the form of reruns.

Buzzy Cohen took to Twitter to remind fans that the rerun of the entire Tournament of Champions begins tonight.

A little biased, indeed. Buzzy hosted the event, drawing praise for his time at the podium. Though, his involvement on the hosting side of the game precludes him from ever competing on the show again.

For those who haven’t seen the tournament or its results, be warned, the rest of the article contains spoilers.

The “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions was a 10-day long, high-stakes showdown between some of the best trivia minds in the world. After more than a week of preliminary rounds, it all came down to three competitors.

The final round saw the three contestants face-off over two different rounds. The winner needed the highest total through both games. In the end, Veronica Vichit-Vadakan, a librarian, took home third place and $50,000. Jennifer Quail, a wine consultant, earned second place and $100,000. And finally, the teacher from Minnesota, Sam Kavanaugh, was crowned “Jeopardy!” champion. He won a grand prize of $250,000.

“Jeopardy!” matched the grand prize, donating $250,000 to the Hope of the Valley Trebek Center for the Homeless.

The whole time, Buzzy Cohen, who won in 2017, presided over the event. In fact, his hosting performance has gained some extra attention recently as Sony and the show attempt to nail down a permanent host in the wake of the Mike Richards debacle.

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Voice Their Support For Buzzy Cohen

With no official permanent hosting announcement, “Jeopardy!” fans continue debating the merits of their favorite options endlessly. Unsurprisingly, many of Buzzy Cohen’s Twitter followers have thrown their full support behind him as the best choice for the job.

“Tonight’s the night!!! U did a good job as host. Looking forward to ur encore debut as host. After part 2 of guest hosting rotation ends, they should call u back for the full time hosting job,” one fan replied.

“Buzzy!! You did such an excellent job at hosting. Flawless, really. Hoping to see more of you on my screen this upcoming season,” another added.

“Why doesn’t Sony just throw a contract at you and finish all of this nonsense?” an impatient and frustrated “Jeopardy!” fan asked.

Perhaps Sony will evaluate these reruns to revisit Buzzy Cohen as a potential permanent hosting option. He comes from the same contestant background as Ken Jennings, after all.
