Today marks what would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday. To honor the special day, “Jeopardy!” shared facts about the “people’s princess.”
Princess Diana was known to her subjects and friends as a kind and generous soul. The wife of Prince Charles and mother to Prince William and Harry, the Princess of Wales, unfortunately, died in a car accident on August 31, 1997, in Paris. She was only 36 years old at the time. Today would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday.
Since she was such a beloved icon, many are paying tribute to the late Princess’s birthday in a variety of ways.
‘Jeopardy!’ Celebrates Beloved Princess
The hit game show, “Jeopardy!” took to social media to share a few heartwarming facts about Princess Diana. The post included by a photo of the Princess’s bright, warm smile, was something she was known for. Written over the photo, the fact, acquired by Mental Floss, “touches” on Diana’s caring nature.
“When visiting hospitals, Diana, Princess of Wales deliberately wore chunky jewelry so that children could play with it. She also avoided wearing gloves because she preferred direct contact with the people she met.”
Furthermore, “Jeopardy!” captioned the post, saying she was “the people’s princess.”
“Today would have marked Princess Diana’s 60th Birthday. #OTD we remember why the Princess of Wales, also referred to as “the people’s princess,” was one of the most beloved figures of her time.”
Still to this day, Diana has countless adoring fans that continue to mourn her death. Many flooded to the comment section of the “Jeopardy!” post to share their thoughts on the Princess and wish her a happy birthday.
“A true personality. Loved the common folk,” stated one person. Another user said, “She was a very special person!” This user went as far as to say, “She is a saint.”

Similarly, Kensington Palace, the home to Princess Diana, Prince William, and Henry, honored her memory with a statue of the young beauty. On Thursday, the brothers met at their childhood home to unveil the large statue of Diana. It celebrates her work to support and nurture children around the world, reports PEOPLE.
In a joint statement, Harry and William reflect on their mother’s selfless work.
“Today, on what would have been our Mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength, and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better. Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.”
The men, who both have children and families of their own, expressed their gratitude to those who created the monument as well as “all those around the world who keep our mother’s memory alive.”
