Ken Jennings had a zinger on Jeopardy! this week and folks are letting him hear about it on Twitter. His joke? “As Dean Martin may have said. That’s Amore!”
Fans dug the joke for the most part. One Twitter user tweeted, “Too funny!!! No other host would have though of it and you brought it home!! Thank you for keeping your “Ken Jennings” sense of humor!!”
Another tweeted, “Not necessary, I genuinely laughed even though I knew it was coming. Dad jokes are gold.”
The best response, though, came from Matt Amodio who tweeted, “Everybody loves somebody who is willing to apologize.” Hilarious work all around.
Ken Jennings Back on ‘Jeopardy!’
Jennings has not hosted the program since February, but he returned on Monday as Amodio continues his hot streak on the program. He had a lot of emotions returning to Jeopardy! but that was to be expected. Producers of the show knew that Jennings would return as host on the anniversary of Trebek’s death, but they did not tell him that this would be the case. Jennings said, “Apparently, everyone was aware that we were going to air (my first episode) on the anniversary and nobody told me.” The producers did so not for poor reasons, they did it to really protect him and not put too much pressure on him if he were to know when it would air.
He continued, “They didn’t want to put that in my head. So I was not told until after that it was the Nov. 8 show.”
Jennings is in the first week of a three-week run, but as you can see above, most fans are happy to have the fan-favorite back hosting the show. Jennings said of his return, “I knew that it was going to be a very difficult task … much less the idea that you’re trying to step into the shoes of Alex Trebek, which is impossible. This time, we’re kind of a year removed or more from all that, so I’ve had every possible emotion now related to ‘Jeopardy!’ ” Jeopardy! once again. Even if it is for a brief amount of time.”
He knows what he is up against here and he was understandably terrified of hosting once again, especially during this time. It’s impossible to follow a legend like Alex Trebek, but Jennings has done an admirable job during his various stints. A big reason why are those little Dad Jokes he drops that keep fans happy watching one of their favorite programs. You can continue to watch Jennings host Jeopardy! for three weeks before another guest host will take over.
