America’s favorite trivia game show, Jeopardy!, is headed for a new era. With Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik slated as the new hosts, fans have weighed in. There were multiple guest hosts that auditioned for the job. The last guest host, Joe Buck finished up his stint this week. Current champion Matt Amodio is among those putting his two cents in.

Throughout his run as champion, Matt Amodio has climbed the Jeopardy! record books. Climbing up in both the longest win streak category and total money earned category. As a contestant, Amodio has experienced more guest hosts than anyone else. Joe Buck has been one of Matt’s favorites.

While hosting Jeopardy! Joe Buck has brought his sports announcing experience to the game. Amodio seems to be enjoying the energy that Buck has given and took the time to thank him. “You can tell he’s loving the experience, and his joy is contagious!” The Ph.D. student has been a joy to watch as well on the show. People that don’t watch the show don’t understand the star power that is possible. When a Ken Jennings or James Holzhauer or Amodio is on the show, it makes it like a sporting event.

Watching people excel in their craft or hobby can be exciting and inspiring. Watching LeBron James or Steph Curry play basketball inspires so many. Tom Brady winning a Super Bowl at 40 years old is impressive. Watching a pro gamer win a match on Fortnite can be exhilarating. On Jeopardy! there are those contestants that are able to make the show their own and inspire. Joe Buck knows greatness when he sees it and has been very appreciative of Amodio’s performance.

Matt Amodio’s Jeopardy! Greatness

As of this Wednesday, Matt Amodio has surpassed $500,000 in total winnings on Jeopardy! over the course of 17 wins. He has gone up the rankings in both of those categories since taking control of the winner’s podium. It seems that Amodio is going to keep winning unless something drastic changes.

However, Jeopardy! win streaks are made to be broken. Perhaps it will be by another contestant that goes on a long win streak. Or, just a one-and-done winner who ends one of the best runs in the history of the game. When it comes to studying for the game, Amodio admits that he has studied the GOAT, Ken Jennings.

“I think my strategy going in was to watch Ken and try to do whatever Ken does,” the current champion said to Entertainment Weekly a few days ago. That’s a pretty good strategy for anyone heading into the game. Is Amodio another Jennings? Perhaps. However, Amodio’s run has been impressive in and of itself without comparison to any other player.
