When actress Mayim Bialik makes her debut as the guest host of “Jeopardy!” on Monday (May 31), it won’t be the first time she appeared on the show. Well, sort of.
According to Bialik’s guest-hosting interview shared on the popular game show’s YouTube channel, she was been an answer on the show. She talked about this in the context of her “Jeopardy!” story.
“Well, (deceased host) Alex Trebek was on ‘Blossom,’ the show that I was on in the 90s,” Bialik said during the interview. “And, that was really spectacular because at the time, we were a young show and we were just trying to get guest stars who had notoriety and Alex was that.”
Unfortunately, the young Mayim Bialik did not get to work alongside Trebek when he appeared on her show.
“I didn’t get to interact with him,” she recalled. “So, it’s not as exciting a ‘Jeorpardy!’ story.”
However, what was exciting to Bialik, who is also a neuroscientist, was getting to be an answer on the quiz show.
“… but, I have been an answer,” she said. “I think more than once.”
“The Big Bang Theory” actress also said she learned about those “appearances” on “Jeopardy!” from people who know her well.
And, usually I get random texts in the middle of the night from relatives or friends saying, ‘Look, you were the answer on ‘Jeopardy!’ So, here I am.”

“I think growing up with two crazy parents really made me equipped to do this,” she jokingly said. All jokes aside, she also said her parents are “awesome.”
Then, she went on to talk about how her acting career helped her prepare.
“I think that being an actor and a performer is really, really helpful for this,” Bialik said.

Following Bialik on “Jeopardy!”, will be Savannah Guthrie. She is a co-host of the popular “TODAY” show on NBC. Guthrie’s episodes will begin airing on June 14.
