‘Jeopardy!’ will air its first-ever Professors Tournament from December 6 to December 17. Ken Jennings is out, and Mayim Bialik of ‘Big Bang Theory’ makes her return to the Jeopardy stage.

According to Sony, Bialik and Jennings will split hosting responsibilities for the remainder of this year. Fans have mixed feelings.

Although Ken Jennings will return, it’s all Mayim Bialik for the next two weeks. Some fans already miss Jennings, while others are overjoyed to see Mayim Bialik hosting. However, it’s unclear who will continue to be the permanent Jeopardy host.

What we do know is Ken Jennings will return two weeks after the Professors Tournament to resume regular gameplay. Additionally, alongside Jennings will be current champion Amy Schneider, who holds a winning streak of 13 days. Schneider’s winning streak makes her a record-holder. As it currently stands, Schneider’s winning streak ranks as the fourth-highest in Jeopardy history.

Fans Share Mixed Feelings Online

From browsing the show’s hashtag on Twitter, there seems to be a clear divide between fans that favor Jennings versus those who favor Bialik. One fan of the show writes, “Mayim reminds me that I really don’t like Ken. Does he have to come back? He’s got that other show he can do.”

Another user expresses their affinity for Bialik, writing, “Nothing against Ken… but I’m really glad that Mayim is back!!”

However, not all viewers are feeling warm and fuzzy about Bialik hosting. Twitter user @madimoukas writes, “Coming out of tweeting retirement for @KenJennings. For the love of god please make this man the host and stop toying with me.”

Another user shares their disappointment, penning, “I don’t want Mayim to be the host of Jeopardy….Ken feels like Jeopardy….Mayim doesn’t.”

While it’s clear not all fans of the show are on the same page, we’ll have to wait and see who continues to host the game in its future. In the meantime, fans are getting geared up for the shows’ first-ever Professors Tournament.

What is Jeopardy’s Professors’ Tournament?

The Professors Tournament takes on a similar format to Jeopardy’s well-known Teachers tournament, where teachers are put against each other to compete for the grand prize.

For the Professors Tournament, 15 professors from different colleges and universities will participate. The tournament kicked off on Monday, and exciting twists and turns are already happening. One thing that makes the tournament exciting is, losing out in a round does not necessarily mean you’re out for the entire tournament. This competition includes four wildcard spots. If a professor loses out on a round but ends up having one of the four highest totals of any non-winner in their respective round, they will move on to the semifinals.

The competition has already kicked off, and you can catch Mayim Bialik hosting the first-ever Jeopardy Professors Tournament until December 17.
