On Monday, Jeopardy!‘s newest guest host will take over the popular game show. FOX Sports announcer Joe Buck will be the next and last interim host before Jeopardy! announces its full-time replacement for legendary host Alex Trebek.
Buck is taking the reins of the game show from August 9 to August 13. Following Trebek’s death in November 2020 from pancreatic cancer, Jeopardy! has used a rotating list of celebrity guest hosts. The interims have allowed the show to continue airing while buying time to find a permanent replacement.
Joe Buck isn’t looking for a career change that we know of. But he’s rounding out the guest-hosting spots as the 16th interim to man the show’s famous lectern. Buck is a mainstay on FOX Sports, and has been for decades.
The 52-year-old sportscaster has called an impressive 23 World Series matchups dating back to 1996. He’s only missed two of them since he earned the position. In addition, Buck has called six Super Bowls and has been the lead voice of FOX NFL since 2002.
Since 2005, he and his broadcast partner Troy Aikman have been a fan favorite announcing duo. According to his FOX Sports bio, “the partnership is the second longest-running broadcast team to call NFL games.” The pairing only trails legendary broadcast duo Pat Summerall and John Madden.
Last year, Joe Buck found out he would be honored with the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award. On Saturday night, he took part in the 2020 Hall of Fame’s induction ceremony, which was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Joe Buck Shares ‘Jeopardy!’ Reference in Birthday Post
Back in April, Jeopardy! announced that Joe Buck would be one of the upcoming guest hosts on the game show. Later that month on his April 25th birthday, the FOX Sports announcer referenced his upcoming stint on Jeopardy!.
In a birthday post, Buck teased his future appearance on the popular trivia-based game show. He and his wife, Michelle Beisner-Buck, filmed a short and amusing video to celebrate his born day on social media. The couple are inside of a bouncy castle, and from what we can tell there are no children around. So the adults took over and are having some bouncing fun for once.
In the video, Buck’s wife asks, “Is this not exactly how you wanted to spend your 52nd birthday?”
The broadcaster amusingly sings his response.
“52 and in a bouncy castle,” he sings. Then Michelle chimes in with her own song, “in a bouncy house.”
The married couple then scream with joy as they have fun jumping around the bouncy castle.
“52 and feeling bouncy. The rest is all in Jeopardy!,” Buck wrote on his Instagram birthday post.
Buck’s one-week stint on the game show begins tomorrow night. Make sure to tune in for the last celebrity guest-hosting appearance before Jeopardy! announces its next full-time host.
