Jeopardy! guest host Mayim Bialik just had a hilarious back and forth with a returning champion about her Twilight obsession. Bialik introduced Verlinda Johnson Henning, a human resources consultant from Memphis Tennessee as a major Twilight fan. Henning camped out before three of the Twilight films premiered.
“It was Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn one and two,” she said, giggling. “Downtown LA outside the staples center. Had a great time.”
Not many would consider camping out at the staples center in downtown LA a great time, but hilariously, Verlinda didn’t seem to mind at all if it meant getting to see her favorite film series.
Bialik Receiving Rave Reviews For ‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Hosting Appearance
It’s been a bit hit or miss with the Jeopardy! guest hosts. Ever since permanent host Alex Trebek tragically passed away, the show has taken on a large group of celebrity guest hosts ranging from newscasters to football players. Not all of them have been a smash hit, however. For instance, Dr. Oz’s appearance on the show was so controversial that there was a petition to get him not to come on.
But Bialik’s time on the show has been met with applause. Bialik is a neuroscientist and actress known for her work on The Big Bang Theory. While many didn’t know what to expect from Bialik, she has quickly become many people’s favorite host. And while Jeopardy! fans seem to love Bialik, Bialik also really seems to love hosting.
“I will say that for me personally, and academically speaking, this is a really, really, really lovely place that I felt so comfortable, and was really honored to be part of it in any way. But obviously feel very strongly that if people find me tolerable, this is a dream job,” Bialik told USA Today
While not every guest-host that’s been on the show is eyeing a permanent spot, Bialik definitely is. She does have some stiff competition. One fan favorite, LeVar Burton, hasn’t even hosted yet. But luckily, there shouldn’t be too much longer until fans get an answer about who will take on the role of guest host. Fans should expect to know who will permanently host the show by late July or early August.
For now, Bialik is an incredibly enjoyable temporary host. With the stage presence and charisma of an actress and the brains of a neuroscientist, many feel like she’s the perfect match. Even her conversations with contestants, like the one she had with Verlinda about twilight, feel very quintessentially Jeopardy!
