‘Jeopardy’: See How Dr. Oz Stacks Up Against Other Guest Hosts as Hosting Duties Wind Down

by John Jamison

It’s been a long two weeks for many “Jeopardy!” fans out there.

Dr. Oz finishes up his guest-hosting stint on Friday and hands the duties over to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who starts April 5. While the television personality appears to be enjoying his time in the role, the internet has made itself heard. Dr. Oz has overstayed his welcome.

Of course, public opinion on the internet is far from unanimous. There are definitely people out there who are perfectly happy with having Dr. Oz on “Jeopardy!” and some would even like to see him take the permanent spot. But according to surveys on TV Line, they are in the extreme minority.

Take these results with a grain of salt, as there is no way of knowing how many people have voted. But as of this writing, when asked if they want Dr. Oz to be the permanent host, a staggering 87.91% of voters answered “No.” A further 6.46% are undecided. That leaves just 5.68% of respondents who support his bid for the job.

But how does he stack up against the other guest hosts that we’ve seen thus far? The second survey asks who voters would like to see get the job.

Of the four guest-hosts “Jeopardy!” has featured in recent months, the big favorite is legend Ken Jennings, who is raking in 43.28% of the vote. In a respectable second-place is Mike Richards, a producer on the show, with 31.81%. The third most popular answer is “Undecided. Gonna wait and see how the other guest hosts do,” with 16.79% of the vote. Journalist Katie Couric is coming with 5.14%. Dr. Oz himself is sitting at the bottom with a small 2.87%.

Internet Backlash Over Dr. Oz Hosting ‘Jeopardy!’

In addition to the survey results, social media has been in a frenzy over the decision to make Dr. Oz a guest host.

People have asked viewers to boycott the show while he remains the host.

At one point there was a petition making its way around the internet, demanding that the television personality be removed from the position.

A push was even made to get LeVar Burton of “Reading Rainbow” and “Star Trek” fame on the show.

We’ve covered all the drama comprehensively here at Outsider and will continue to do so. Stay tuned for any further developments.
