The competition is heating up as Jeopardy! is now full swing into the second week of their annual Tournament of Champions.

The Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions brings back only the best of the best contestants of past seasons. All contestants in the tournament are multi-game winners with impressive money totals from their time on the show. The yearly tournament got started last week with the preliminary round as past champions go head to head for big money. The tournament’s semifinal round began earlier this week and the finals are quickly approaching. Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions contestants are competing for $250,000 in prize money. They are also competing for pride and glory as winners of the tournament have a special place in the game show’s history.

As they often do, Jeopardy! producers took to social media on Tuesday to the day’s episode. Today’s matchup will feature the winners of last week’s episodes with a place in the tournament finals up for grabs. The Jeopardy! social media accounts say this evening’s episode will be enjoyable for fans of the show.

“Ready for today’s semifinals match with Ryan, Veronica and Kevin?” the Instagram post asks fans. “It’s an intense and emotional one!”

Jeopardy! Fans Excited for Tournament of Champions Match

Jeopardy! fans were quick to respond to the Tuesday morning post, declaring their favorite to win the episode.

“I’m feeling Ryan got this…or Kevin,” a fans and social media user writes. “This is a tough one.”

Other Jeopardy! fans say they are just looking forward to a competitive match among three of the show’s best players. The Tournament of Champions produces some of the highest-rated episodes for the popular quiz show.

“My Jeopardy alarm is set,” another fan proudly proclaims. “Can’t wait!!”

Intense and emotional have been a common theme for this year’s Tournament of Champions. It is the first tournament since the passing of longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek, late last year. Trebek lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in November of last year at 80-years-old. Numerous contestants have paid tribute to Trebek during the ongoing Tournament of Champions. Trebek stood behind the Jeopardy! lectern for 37 years before his death.

Buzzy Cohen, who Trebek once called “Mr. Personality,” is currently serving as the Jeopardy! guest host. His stint as host as well as the Tournament of Champions will conclude this Friday. Actress Mayim Bialik is up next as a Jeopardy! guest host. Her reign will begin Monday. Journalist Savannah Guthrie will take her turn as host once Bialik’s tenure is over.
