Jeopardy fans weigh in about Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s guest host stint as he nears the end of his reign behind the podium.
Neurosurgeon and chief medical correspondent for CNN, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, has spent the last two weeks serving as the guest host for one of the most popular game shows on television, Jeopardy. Beginning on June 28, Dr. Gupta will conclude his hosting stint on Friday, July 9.
According to Pop Culture, Jeopardy fans have given Dr. Sanjay Gupta mostly warm praises during his time on the show. Considering the Jeopardy viewership is a pretty cut-throat crowd to please, the doctor is doing a great job. Is he in contention for the permanent position on the show? Does he even want it?
Since Alex Trebek’s death in November, the game show has been feverishly trying to give a replacement, which is no small feat. Alex Trebek was a staple on the show for more than 36 years. He continued to host Jeopardy throughout his stage four pancreatic cancer diagnosis until the time of his death, all with a warm and welcoming smile on his face.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta is Giving Life to Show
So far, fans have seen some of the biggest names on television try their hand at the deceivingly hard job, with some meeting fan’s expectations and others falling flat.
Dr. Sanjay Gupta took to social media on June 28, to say “I hope I made Alex Trebek proud, and I look forward to the next two weeks.”
Fans quickly flocked in to share their praises for the 51-year-old TV personality.
“You did awesome!! I’m sure Alex is happy with the great job you did!!” gushed one fan. Another said, “You were great. We loved it.”
“I have to say, having not watched Jeopardy since Alex Trebek’s passing, Dr. Sanjay Gupta is doing a good job guest-hosting. He couldn’t replace Alex, no one can, but I think he’s got that vibe, or something close to it.”
In fact, most of the comments under the post congratulated Dr. Sanjay Gupta on such an excellent job while hosting. As always, you cannot please everyone, but the fans enjoyed Dr. Gupta for the most part. But is he better than front-runner Ken Jennings?
Upcoming Weeks on Jeopardy
