Katie Couric’s brief role as the guest host of “Jeopardy!” is coming to an end. Her final episode will reportedly air today (Friday, March 19). Her exit from the famous quiz show leaves the spot behind the famous podium open for another guest host.

So, who will be the next person to step in as a guest host on “Jeopardy!”? According to TVLine.com, the next celebrity guest host will be Dr. Oz. His episodes will begin on March 22.

As fans already know, “Jeopardy!” has had guest hosts on the show since the passing of legendary host Alex Trebek. Trebek died in November 2020.

Before Katie Couric, legendary “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings and the show’s executive producer Mike Richards both served as guest hosts. Jennings hosted the show for six weeks, while Richards hosted for two weeks, according to TVLine.com.

According to Jeopardy.com, other future guest hosts include Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, anchor Anderson Cooper, anchor Savannah Guthrie, actress Mayim Bialik, journalist Bill Jennings, and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

Rodgers is scheduled to host the show from April 5 until April 16. Cooper will be the guest host from April 19 until April 30. The dates for the other guest hosts had not been posted to the show’s website.

Who will be chosen as the next full-time host of “Jeopardy!” remains to be seen. Fans may have to wait until September 2021 to find out.

Regarding the hunt for the next full-time host, Richards reportedly told “USA Today” the following:

“Let’s make sure we get someone we are going to feel even better about in a decade than we do this year.”

Katie Couric’s Run on ‘Jeopardy!’ Raises More than $200,000 for Her Chosen Charity

As part of its plan for having celebrities serve as guests hosts, “Jeopardy!” decided to donate funds to the charity of the guest host’s choosing. According to TVLine.com, the amount donated would be what the show’s contestants won during the guest host’s time on the show.

Katie Couric chose Stand Up to Cancer as her charity. And, as of March 18, the organization was going to receive almost $200,000. It’s not a surprise that Couric chose Stand Up to Cancer as her choice charity – she is one of its founders.

Stand Up to Cancer “works relentlessly to offer the newest, most effective, and most promising cancer treatments to patients quickly by bringing together the best minds to collaborate, innovate, and share cancer research,” according to its website.

In addition to raising funds for her charity, being the host of the beloved quiz show was an experience Couric cherishes.

“This has been an extraordinary experience for me,” Couric said, according to TVLine.com. “It has made me respect Alex Trebek even more than I already did. Hosting this show is hard, and the fact that he did this while he was fighting pancreatic cancer, well, that was downright Herculean.”
