Ken Jennings has a pretty impressive resume. He rose to fame by being the longest-running Jeopardy! champion in history. This also netted him the title of the biggest game show winner ever.
On top of that, Jennings was the first guest-host on the classic quiz show after Alex Trebek died last year. Currently, Jennings works on the show behind the scenes. At the same time, many fans hope to see him return as the permanent host.
Not everything he does is connected to Jeopardy! though. In fact, Jennings is a prolific author with a dozen books under his belt, so far. He is also one of the trivia experts on The Chase.
The list goes on, really. Ken Jennings is, without a doubt, an impressive guy. The list of things that he can’t do seems pretty short, especially in the realm of trivia. However, one thing that even Jennings hasn’t mastered is being in two places at once. This has left some wondering if the return of The Chase could stop him from being the full-time host of Jeopardy! if the chance arises.
Would ‘The Chase’ Stop Ken Jennings from Hosting ‘Jeopardy!’ Full-Time?
As it stands, Ken Jennings pulled the highest ratings of any Jeopardy! guest-host. He is also connected to the show. He has also expressed his desire to stand behind the legendary lectern in a permanent capacity. For the most part, fans of the show are on board with Jennings taking over in Trebek’s absence. On top of that, Jeopardy! executive producer Mike Richards has said that Jennings is definitely in the running to be the permanent host, according to Desert News.
On the other hand, The Chase was recently renewed for a second season. That show features Ken Jennings and other Jeopardy! GOATs Brad Rutter and James Holzhauer. Their job is to keep contestants from winning a cash prize by out-witting them.
According to Deseret News, Ken Jennings had to step away from his original guest-host gig due to commitments on The Chase. So, it’s possible that the show could stand in his way of taking the position if it is offered to him.
The selection process for the new Jeopardy! host will be finished by the time the next season of The Chase kicks off. So, Ken Jennings may have to make a choice in the near future. On the other hand, the position is still open to any of the previous or upcoming guest hosts. So, right now, it’s just about anybody’s game.
