Actor Jerry O’Connell, who just gained a new job with CBS”s “The Talk,” is known by Outsiders for his role in the movie “Stand by Me.”
O’Connell, though, remembered many times when actor Kiefer Sutherland would bully him and his co-stars when they weren’t on-camera.
But Jerry O’Connell decided to offer a comment on a Twitter post talking about Sutherland and those times on the set of “Stand by Me.”
In an Instagram post, O’Connell has an epic response to the tweet regarding Sutherland’s actions.
Sutherland, obviously, has gone on to other well-known roles, too. People remember him from being on the Fox show “24” and his character, Jack Bauer.
Here’s another little tidbit about “Stand by Me” before we talk more about O’Connell. It was the third movie Rob Reiner directed in his career behind the camera. Before that movie, Reiner had directed “This Is Spinal Tap” in 1984 and “The Sure Thing” in 1985.
Jerry O’Connell Takes Over on ‘The Talk’ Months After Sharon Osbourne Left
O’Connell is taking over the permanent spot on “The Talk” vacated by Sharon Osbourne.
Osbourne had an on-air heated dispute with Sheryl Underwood. Osbourne supported Piers Morgan and his controversial comments related to Meghan Markle.
In an HBO episode of “Real Time with Bill Maher,” Osbourne spoke about everything that happened. She said she was “angry” and “hurt.” CBS conducted an internal review and found her comments and behavior unacceptable.
So far, the reaction to O’Connell joining “The Talk” crew on a full-time basis is all good.
Co-host Elaine Welteroth took to social media to share the news of his casting. She wrote, “Congrats to a real one!!! … We are so lucky to have your unmatched energy, your charm, and your squirmy, gyrating, zaddy bawdy in that chair. You make us laugh every day! Looking forward to going on this ride with you by our side.”
Kelly Ripa of “LIVE with Kelly and Ryan” is close friends with O’Connell. She took to Instagram to share some love for her fellow talk-show host with some of her favorite snapshots of him.
In her caption, Ripa gushed, “Congratulations to @mrjerryoc everyone’s favorite actor, host, and friend on joining the @thetalkcbs! You deserve all the success”.
Jerry O’Connell becomes the first full-time male co-host on the program. O’Connell is currently on a break until the end of July. Once August rolls around, he’s on there full-time during the 12th season.
Among the actor’s movie credits beyond “Stand by Me” include “Sliders,” “My Secret Identity,” “Joe’s Apartment,” “Jerry Maguire,” and “Scream 2.” Jerry O’Connell also provides the voice of Commander Jack Ransom on the animated series “Star Trek: Lower Decks.”
