Reality star Jessa Duggar Seewald and her husband Ben Seewald are reacting to the recent arrest of her older brother Josh Duggar. Authorities reportedly charged Josh with one count of receipt of child pornography. He also garnered one count of possession of child pornography.
Currently, he is at the Washington County, Arkansas jail. The court is holding him without bail. On May 5, a judge will decide to grant him bail or not. U.S Chief Magistrate Judge Erin L. Wiedemann also order Josh Duggar wouldn’t be allowed in a residence with minors if the court granted bail.
In response, Jessa Duggar and her husband issued a joint statement condemning the alleged behavior. They hope the truth soon comes to light.
“We are saddened to hear of the charges against Josh,” Jessa and Ben wrote. “As Christians, we stand against any form of pornography or abuse. And we desire for the truth to be exposed, whatever that may be. Our prayers are with their family as they walk through this difficult time.”
Reportedly, Josh Duggar’s attorneys have issued a not guilty plea on his behalf. But the news rocked the “Counting On” family. This also isn’t the first time Josh’s name has been in the news. In 2015, Duggar was in the news, for reports that he molested five underage girls. Two of the girls were his sisters Jessa and Jill Duggar Dillard.
Duggar Family Reacts to News
The rest of the Duggar family is also reacting to the news. For instance, Jinger Vuolo, Josh’s younger sister, issued a statement with her husband as well.
“We are disturbed to hear of the charges against Josh. While this case must go through the legal system, we want to make it clear that we absolutely condemn any form of child abuse and fully support the authorities and judicial process in their pursuit of justice,” the couple wrote in a statement shared to Instagram.
Meanwhile, his parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, have asked for plenty of prayers.
“We appreciate your continued prayers for our family at this time,” they said in a statement to Us Weekly via their family rep on Friday, April 30. “The accusations brought against Joshua today are very serious. It is our prayer that the truth, no matter what it is, will come to light and that this will all be resolved in a timely manner. We love Josh and Anna and continue to pray for their family.”
But Josh Duggar’s wife Anna is reportedly standing by her husband’s side. A family source confirmed the news to The Sun newspaper.
“Anna is standing by her husband as she always has,” the source said. “She even accompanied Josh to Fayetteville on Thursday so he could turn himself in to authorities. Josh and Anna asked the family to pray for them, and said that they love them.”
