Joe Montana and his wife experienced a horrifying incident on Saturday when an intruder entered his California home and tried snatching one of their grandchildren.
Around 5 p.m. on Saturday, a 39-year-old woman came in through an unlocked door at Joe and Jennifer Montana’s Los Angeles, California home, TMZ reports. The unidentified intruder reportedly saw a woman holding a baby, however, it remains unclear which woman was holding the child.
The intruder grabbed Montana’s grandchild away from the woman and then walked away to another part of the house. Joe and Jennifer confronted the intruder and wrestled the baby away from the woman. The intruder then ran away from the house.
At the time of the intrusion, L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies were attending an unrelated matter in the area. Someone inside the house flagged down the law enforcement officers and reported the situation. Shortly thereafter, the officers found the intruder several blocks from Montana’s home.
The deputies later booked the woman on burglary and kidnapping charges.
Joe Montana and His Family Life After Football
Joe and Jennifer wed in 1985. They share four children together: Alexandra Whitney, Elizabeth Jean, Nathaniel Joseph and Nicholas Alexander. It remains unclear which of Montana’s children were involved in the frightening events on Saturday evening.
The legendary quarterback retired from the NFL in 1995. After hanging up his cleats, Montana’s family became the main focus.
Back in 2015, Montana and his wife spoke out about his family life with local CBS News affiliate KPIX. Jennifer said that family means “everything, everything… It’s something we’ve really stressed to the kids growing up.”
She continued by saying: “I think it’s a question of what’s important. You make a list of things you need to do and sometimes it gets squashed… One phone call from the kids.”
While he is typically active on social media, Joe Montana has yet to comment on the events of Saturday night.
