Joe Walsh Teases Possibility of New Eagles Music When ‘We Get Back Together’

Joe Walsh talks about all the songs he’s written during quarantine.

Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh had to learn the ins and outs of the digital world last month when his VetsAid fundraiser moved online. The event streamed in December and featured more than two dozen artists including, Alice Cooper, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Jon Bon Jovi, Vince Gill, and more. During an interview, Walsh joked that he’s an expert in online concerts now that he had an internet crash course.

“If you ever wanna do a big event on the Internet, call us,” joked Walsh.

However, Walsh got a little more serious when he talked about the event’s success. He said that, despite having to be online, the concert successfully raised money for the cause. Proceeds from VetsAid 2020 are distributed as grants totaling $250,000 to veterans services organizations.

Walsh Reveals That He’s Working On New Eagles Songs

Walsh said that he hoped his fellow musicians would be willing to participate in the event. However, he had no idea just how many would agree to perform.

“With these functions, you just ask people humbly and hope a couple sign up, but they all said yes. That’s a good thing, but we hadn’t planned for that,” said Walsh. “Navigating that and getting it all to flow virtually was really a lesson in putting things together – there’s no doing this for dummies. But it went really well and for a virtual event, we made a surprising amount of money.”

Walsh then let it slip that he’s been working on some new music. Not only that, but he’s confident that each of his bandmates will soon be ready to perform new songs.

“I think the Eagles, when we get back together and get to work, we’re going to talk about the experience that we had and maybe come up with some music,” said Walsh. “[Right now] it’s kind of hard to get a handle on it. But when things get better, I think a lot of people are going to be writing about the experience,” he said.

Joe Walsh Had ‘No Choice But To Get To Know’ Himself During Quarantine

The pandemic has affected everyone in different ways. However, one thing we can almost all agree on is that quarantine has given us some time to think alone. Walsh said that once his tours were canceled, he had to get to know himself on a deeper level.

“[Touring] is a part of us. That’s a monster that needs to be fed,” said Walsh. “We get disoriented – I haven’t played in a year. The COVID experience is a study in human nature. I got time, and I had no choice but to get to know Joe Walsh – not the rock star, but the dumb guy from Ohio,” said Walsh.

Undoubtedly, we’re fans of Joe Walsh the rock star and we’re sure we’d like Joe Walsh from Ohio just the same.
