John Fogerty Recalls Performing ‘Proud Mary’ On-Stage with ‘The Dude’ Jeff Bridges 10 Years Ago Today

Taking a stroll down memory lane! Music icon John Fogerty took to his Twitter account to recall performing Proud Mary on stage with The Dude, Jeff Bridges, in 2011.

“Remember when The Dude had Creedence tapes in his car?” John Fogerty asked in a special tweet. The singer and songwriter also reveals that as a fan he thought it was cool to hear the mention of his songs. “And today in 2011 we got to perform “Proud Mary” together!”

At the time, John Fogerty joined Jeff Bridges on stage at the American Thunder Music Festival, which was held at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. The funds raised during the festival were reportedly used for programs that connected U.S. military troops to the services they need. This includes physical rehabilitation, counseling, education, employment, and financial assistance as well as services for both homelessness and suicide.

Jeff Bridges Recalls Performing Alongside John Fogerty

In a June 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, Jeff Bridges opened up about performing alongside John Fogerty during the festival. “I actually performed a little bit not too long ago. John Fogerty asked me to get up on stage with him at Sturgis, that big motorcycle rally, and we did [Creedence Clearwater Rival’s] Lookin’ Out My Back Door, so I did a little bit of the landlord dance.”

Bridges also reveals that while he has no problems dancing on stage with John Fogerty, he still struggles with the anxiety of getting on stage or performing in front of a camera. “It’s something you kind of befriend,” he explains. “You get semi-used to it, but never entirely.”

Bridges also says that he is planned to watch his daughter’s opening set or perform meditation before going on stage. “It kind of wipes the slate clean for a second. And all your expectations are put on the side and you get to be fresh.”

Fogerty Gears Up For Live Performances

John Fogerty is gearing up for his next performance. The performance will take place at the Leader Bank Pavilion in Boston on August 20th. He has other performances in New York, as well as in Pennsylvania at the end of August. Fogerty then moves on to California. He will also be performing at the John Fogerty x Encore Theater Wynn in Los Vegas.

Fogerty recently penned a heartfelt tribute to ZZ-Top’s Dusty Hill, who passed away one week after performing with Fogerty. In a tweet, John writes, “We are devastated to hear about Dusty’s passing. We were so blessed to share the stage with the great Dusty and ZZ-Top many times. And If that wasn’t Rock and Roll heaven, I don’t know what it is.”

He also describes the last show with Dusty Hill as “heartbreaking.”
