John Legend Breaks Silence on Chrissy Teigen Scandal, Says She’s ‘Doing Great’

John Legend is many things. He’s a singer, songwriter, record producer, actor, film producer, and philanthropist. But on Wednesday afternoon, he was just a husband as he stood by the side of his wife, Chrissy Teigen, during her ongoing cyber-bullying scandal.

Legend was spotted on Wednesday while he was out and about in West Hollywood. When a photographer began asking him about his wife and how she was fairing through the ordeal, he simply replied, “She’s doing great.” Of course, we weren’t there so it’s hard to say if Legend’s response was a sincere one, or if it was a short-handed answer to get the media out of his hair.

However, for those out there who don’t know, Teigen has been under fire for some of her old tweets. She has even been labeled a cyberbully by those she has hurt. Just a couple of days before John Legend spoke out, his wife issued an apology where she admitted to her past of being an internet troll and writing mean comments. She insists that she is a changed person.

“It has been a VERY humbling few weeks. I know I’ve been quiet, and lord knows you don’t want to hear about me. But I want you to know I’ve been sitting in a hole of deserved global punishment. The ultimate ‘sit here and think about what you’ve done,’” Teigen wrote. “Not a day, not a single moment has passed where I haven’t felt the crushing weight of regret for the things I’ve said in the past. As you know a bunch of my old awful (awful, awful) tweets resurfaced. I’m truly ashamed of them. As I look at them and understand the hurt they caused, I have to stop and wonder. How could I have done that?”

There Is a Lot to Unpack in the Scandal Involving the Wife of John Legend

By now, we know that Chrissy Teigen has poured her heart out on social media in the wake of her cyberbullying controversy.

John Legend’s 35-year-old wife says she was swept up in the early days of Twitter. Where people were having fun giving each other a hard time and posting random quips. That includes doing so to celebrities. Teigen calls this a “pop-culture pile-on.”

However, she now realizes, or at least she says she does, that her words weren’t so harmless. Some of her accusers include stars such as Lindsay Lohan, Courtney Stodden and Michael Costello. They say that Teigen’s words were more than just harmless quips. She threatened their livelihoods, encouraged them to self-harm, and even commit suicide.

“In reality, I was insecure, immature, and in a world where I thought I needed to impress strangers to be accepted,” Teigen wrote in her apology. “If there was a pop culture pile-on, I took to Twitter to try to gain attention and show off what I at the time believed was a crude, clever, harmless quip. I thought it made me cool and relatable if I poked fun at celebrities.”
