John Travolta is best-known for his talented acting skills in top films like Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Pulp Fiction. However, the actor is also a very dedicated and loving family man. Following the death of his long-time wife Kelly Preston, Travolta is letting go of their Maine mansion for $5 million.
John Travolta Puts Beloved Maine Home Up for Sell
The couple moved into the mansion in 1991 after being newly married. They immediately began to quickly redesign the 11,000-square-foot, 42-room mansion that’s painted in a unique and creative style.
The mansion was lovingly designed in a cozy and eclectic style by both Preston and Travolta.
Sadly, Preston died last July from cancer at age 57. No one outside of the family knew of her two-year battle with cancer until she passed away. She put much time and effort into turning the home into a warm, family-oriented environment.
“Though we both have strong ideas, we’ll each compromise, and we’ll work together on every aspect until it’s right,” Preston told Archeticual Digest. The 1999 interview compared the equality and togetherness of their renovation process with the two’s long and happy relationship.
A Home Filled With Memories After the Passing of His Wife
Travolta, 67, is releasing the whimsical house that’s located on 50-acres of land. The mansion sits on an island atop one of the highest areas of the Bluffs in Maine. It is prime realty and includes a personal boat dock and water access.
They completely renovated the kitchen, According to Travolta, they completed all of the work on the house in a “60-day marathon” designing mission. The home is officially labeled as historic, and is known as “Drexel Estate.”
“It was madness — but so much fun,” Preston told Agricultural Digest.
Preston was sure to fill the home with fairytale paintings, a Peter Pan room, and an airplane room for their future children. The couple was ecstatic to begin their family.
John Travolta Suffers Second Loss of Loved One
Preston’s death isn’t the first major loss in the A-lister’s life. His firstborn son, Jett, passed away in 2009 at the age of 16 after suffering a seizure.
Travolta and Preston first met while filming the 1989 move The Experts. The couple was married for almost three decades so the loss is devastating and heartbreaking. They have two other children named Ella, 20, and Benjamin, 10.
The essence and memories of the couple’s time together must be painful for the star for him to put the mansion up for sell.
He owns three other homes. One is $3 million and is located in Clearwater, FL. It’s in close proximity to the Scientology Headquarters, which Travolta is part of. The actor has a home near a private airport in Ocala, Florida, and a $2.7 million mansion in Calabasas, California. He just sold his mansion located in Brentwood for $18 million.
For just $5 million, Travolta’s sprawling Maine mansion can be yours.
