‘John Wick 4’ Director Confirms Key Cast Member Is Returning For the Sequel

Action film John Wick 4 is looking promising for fans after the director revealed a key cast member is returning for the sequel film. The Keanu Reeves lead franchise will see the return of Ian McShane. McShane plays Winston, the owner of the hotel that doubles as a hideaway for assassins.

Director Chad Stahelski announced the news in a statement.

“I couldn’t be happier than to welcome Ian McShane back to John Wick: Chapter 4,” he said. “He is not only an amazing actor but is an indispensable collaborator who has helped define the world of John Wick.

The John Wick films have been widely praised by action film fans, and many are thrilled to see the film franchise return for its fourth chapter.

Here’s What We Know So Far About ‘John Wick: Chapter 4’

John Wick 4 is filming this summer in Germany, Japan, and France. We don’t know too much yet about the plot. It’s being produced by Erica Lee, Basil Iwanyk, and Chad Stahelski.

Despite being earlier in production, the film already has a release date. So if you love action, mark May 27, 2022, on your calendar.

The Film has a Ton of New Cast Members

The film will also see the return of Charon actor Lance Reddick. Reddick plays the concierge, and Stahelski is thrilled to have him back on the team as well.

They’ve also brought in multiple new faces into the John Wick world. Hiroyuki Sanada, Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, and Shamier Anderson will both be a part of the sequel film. Sandaya, whose known for his roles in Westworld and Mortal Combat, has been in an impressive lineup of 55 different films. Not much is known about the character he’ll play in the film franchise, but fans are excited to see him join the cast.

Donnie Yen will play an old friend of John Wick. The two have a lot of history together and share many common enemies. Yen is known for his awesome contemporary screen combat skills. He’s been in productions such as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and xXx: Return of Xander Cage.

“Donnie Yen will bring a vibrant and powerful energy to the franchise. We were determined to bring him on board to John Wick 4 and are thrilled for the opportunity to have such a major talent to collaborate with Keanu,” producer Basil Iwanyk told Deadline

Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama has been hired to star alongside Keanu Reeves. This will be the singer’s feature film debut. Stahelski told Deadline that she’s “an incredible talent who’ll bring so much to the film.”

Finally, Shamier Anderson, known for his work on Wynonna Earp, and Goliath, will play an unknown yet important role in the series. Anderson marks one of the many exciting new additions to the cast. And thankfully for fans of John Wick, you just have to wait until May to catch the film in theatres.
