Starz’s “John Wick” prequel series “The Continental” has officially casted the younger version of Ian McShane’s film character, Winston Scott.
According to TVLine, The Flight Attendant and The Originals star Colin Woodell has been casted as Winston Scott. The latest John Wick prequel addition comes just days after Mel Gibson was announced as the star of the upcoming series.
Deadline also reported that the John Wick prequel will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassins. According to IMDb, The Continental is a chain of hotels located around the world that function as a neutral territory for members of the criminal underworld. The hotel chains are obviously frequented by hitmen and notorious murderers.
The series will take John Wick fans back to New York City in 1975. Woodell’s character will navigate the Big Apple’s “nefarious underbelly” as an attempt to take control of The Continental. Along with Gibson and Woodell, other cast members in the series are Hubert Point-Du Jour, Jessica Allain, Mishel Prada, Nhung Kate, and Ben Robson.
The Continental will notably be presented as a three-night special-event TV series, produced for Starz by Lionsgate Television.
What Can Fans Expect in ‘The Continental’ Series?
During a recent interview with Deadline, Lionsgate TV’s Kevin Beggs stated that what he and his team are exploring in The Continental is the young Winston and how he found his way into the hotel.
“That’s the arena. I won’t give away more than that.”
Beggs does state that Stars “really leaned” into the Winston take also. He also described the network as being great collaborators. “And how we’ve approached this first season is as three essentially 90-minute events, which you could construe as a limited series or a limited event series.”
Although the series will be based on Winston’s journey through The Continental, McShane has previously stated he will not be appearing in the show. But he may do voice-over work.
