Tonight, Katie Couric hosted Jeopardy! for the first time following Ken Jennings’ six-week stretch. Her exciting new gig also comes off of another exciting piece of news for the well-known journalist. She announced on Twitter ahead of her first hosting night that she completed her emotional memoir.

“I just turned in the manuscript for this memoir that I have been writing for the last two and a half to three years. It’s incredibly emotional and it was really hard but really gratifying…” Katie Couric said as she started to break down in the emotional video and Twitter post. “anyways, I hope you f***ing like it.”

The memoir, titled Unexpected, will detail her struggles with insecurity and eating disorders. Along with that, it will talk about her professional career and her personal life, including the death of some of her loved ones. She spoke about her writing earlier on Twitter.

“I’m writing my autobiography because I wanted to do it while I can still remember everything that’s happened,” Katie Couric said in a Twitter video. “It’s very emotional going back in time and revisiting really difficult things and it’s better to revisit joyous things, but I’m very excited about it. I’m looking forward to hearing from you because I want to know what you’d like me to talk about because I want this to be a bit interactive. Tell me what you want to know as I set out to write a book about my life.”

Fans Reflect on Katie Couric on Jeopardy!

Most fans loved both Ken Jennings and Mike Richards on the show. However, some fans think that seeing Katie Couric will be refreshing to have on Jeopardy!. She will become, after all, the first female host on the show. Some fans think it could be a nice thing to have a female host behind the podium. For instance, one fan weighed in her first night stepping in for the legendary Alex Trebek.

“I have an open mind so I will be watching. So far I am a Mike Richard’s fan as his voice was calming (as Alex’s was). Ken was a great contestant but as a host was too loud and tried to be funny. Maybe we need a different gender, time will tell. Just my opinion.”

Some fans, however, believe Ken Jennings and Mike Richards were both irreplaceable, even though they only saw the two for six weeks and two weeks, respectively. With that said, Katie Couric is known for her soothing television voice. Only time will tell how fans feel after her stint as host for the iconic show.
