Keanu Reeves discusses the likelihood of a fifth “Matrix” movie being made. Are there more installments being planned out?

Actor Keanu Reeves is busy promoting his new film “The Matrix: Resurrections.” On the Empire podcast, Reeves talks about the likelihood of the movie’s saga growing. As of right now, there are no plans or talks of another “Matrix” installment.

“At the moment, it’s just the movie you’ve seen,” he says. “We’ve got no further trilogy.”

Reeves does not think that director Lana Wachowski would want to work on another “Matrix” movie. “If I had to cast a ballot – no, not a ballot, a vote – I would say that Lana would not do another Matrix,” Reeves adds.

This does not come as a surprise to movie buffs. The film is struggling at the box office. In its release week, the film only made $22.5 million in the US. Clearly falling well short of the movie’s $190 million budget.

Receiving mixed reviews and a 65% Rotten Tomatoes score, fans are unsure of how to feel about the new “Matrix” movie.

Keanu Reeves Reprises His Role

Keanu Reeves reprises his role as Neo for “The Matrix: Resurrections.” In an interview with NME, he discusses why he wanted to give the character more life onscreen.

“For me, I felt like the character and the journey of it is kind of an examination of the past; how do I feel about it and where am I now,” Reeves says. “What does it mean? What’s important? So there was a lot of, not nostalgia, but a reflection and a yearning to understand.”

He adds that he wanted to return to Neo because of “life experience and all of [what] that entails, the highs and the lows and all of the in-betweens.”

In an interview with Complex, Keanu Reeves is asked a tricky question from a fan. “My question is would you rather be John Wick or Neo in real life, and why?”

After some thought, he says he would rather be his “Matrix” character. “Because we’re here speaking about Resurrections and Matrix Resurrections, I think–and I don’t think John Wick would mind. I think he’d understand. But I think to be able to be with Trinity and have that life with them together and see what would happen– I think John Wick would be like ‘I got your back.’”

This is a great answer. Check your local listings and go see “The Matrix: Resurrections” in a movie theater near you.
