Keith Urban and Pink debuted their duet “One Too Many” at the 2020 ACM Awards.

Keith Urban and Pink’s Performance

Urban and Pink took the virtual stage on Wednesday (September 16). Urban began the performance with his guitar at hand in a multi-colored background. Pink soon joined in with a virtual wall imposed onto the background screen.

The new track is off of Urban’s album, The Speed of Sound Part 1 that debuts on Friday (September 18). Urban recorded the song while in Australia whereas Pink recorded her portions in Los Angeles.

“I’ve always loved Pink’s voice,” Urban admitted. “But her artistry and her multi-faceted ability to create, and her God-given talent, truly makes her one of the greatest voices of our time.”

Their collaboration seemed like a no-brainer. “When I collaborate, I’m always looking for that ‘third thing,'” Urban explained. “There’s what I do, there’s what my collaborator does and then there’s this ‘third thing’ that I’m most curious about.  That’s what interests me the most – when the sum of the parts becomes even more than what I envisioned.  That’s what I love so much about it – finding common ground, shaping it and bringing it together.”

This isn’t Pink’s first time breaking into country music. She previously released “Setting The World On Fire” alongside Kenny Chesney in 2016. In 2014, she created the group You+Me with Dallas Green. The duo was a folk/country project that released an album.

All About the ACMs

Urban hosted the star-studded awards show that was unlike any years past. For the first time in the show’s history, it was delayed five months and held in Nashville without a live audience. The show was held at three different historic venues: The Grand Ole Opry, Ryman Auditorium, and Bluebird Cafe. Rigorous health and safety protocols were put in place.

The original theme of the show was set to be “country music’s party of the year” and became “a night of heart and hits live from Nashville.” The 55th Annual Acamde of Country Music Awards aired on CBS and is available to stream on the CBS All Access.
