Singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson will sit down with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden for the latter’s first one-on-one interview from the White House. Clarkson announced the news on her Instagram account Wednesday.

“SURPRISE!” Clarkson posted. “Can you believe it!? I’m sitting down with @FLOTUS for her first solo interview as First Lady! It all airs on the @KellyClarksonShow on 2.25! #FLOTUSonKELLY.”
“I’m going to the White House, y’all!” Clarkson declared excitedly in the accompanying video. “I am so excited! Tune in February 25.”
Clarkson will also perform in the East Room of the White House, with Biden telling viewers what determined her song pick.
Clarkson has been open about her liberal political leanings, speaking out about marijuana legalization and the NFL protests and agreeing with Chelsea Handler that Trump’s election sent her to therapy.
Recovering from a Rough 2020
Because of the pandemic, 2020 was a difficult year for most people. But Clarkson’s 2020 was extra hard on her.
In June of last year, Clarkson filed for divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock, citing irreconcilable differences. The two were married for almost seven years. They have two children, River Rose, 6, and Remington Alexander, 4, together.
“They clashed on so many levels, and being in quarantine together heightened their problems to the point of no return,” a source close to Clarkson told Us Weekly. “So she filed for divorce.”
Blackstock was also Clarkson’s talent manager. And in October, Clarkson filed a fraud claim against him and his father Narvel Blackstock with the California Labor Commission.
She argued that the Blackstocks cheated her out of millions of dollars over the past decade-plus by providing “illegal services.” And she sought to be reimbursed for the “unconscionable fees” she paid the two of them from 2007 to 2020, since they were not licensed to provide services in the state of California during that time.
In return, Blackstock filed paperwork with the California Labor Commission saying Clarkson should not get any of the money that he, his father or their company Starstruck Management made during the past 13 years, according to Vanity Fair. Blackstock is asking that her claim be dismissed and that she be required to pay all of his legal fees.
In the divorce process, Blackstock is seeking over $5 million per year in support from Clarkson. Last November, a court gave Clarkson primary custody of their two children.
