Kelly Clarkson’s Ex, Brandon Blackstock, Reportedly Quitting Hollywood to Become a Rancher

Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband may be watching a little too much Yellowstone. According to recent updates, the music producer is leaving his comfy job to become a rancher. The news comes in the midst of the former couple’s messy court case regarding Blackstock’s spousal and child support payments. Clarkson and her ex share two young kids together, River (7) and Remington (5).

Since their official split in June 2020, Clarkson and Blackstock have been at odd ends with each other. Previously, the parents’ attempted to remain genial for the sake of the kids. However, it seems the same issue that caused their divorce is now rearing its ugly head in the aftermath.

Recently, Kelly Clarkson discovered that she will have to pay Brandon Blackstock $45k for child support. Clarkson currently holds primary custody of the two kids. She will also have to cover the $150k dues in spousal support each month. However, the presiding judge ultimately decided that Clarkson would not be responsible for the operating costs of the ranch going forward. In 2019, Clarkson and Blackstock bought Vintage Valley for $10,395,000. Since Blackstock will be using the land as his primary place for work and home, his ex-wife does not have any obligations to the property, according to the court documents.

“The evidence in this case shows that after the date of separation, Respondent made a very deliberate choice to change his life and become a rancher fulltime,” the documents read. “Respondent testified that he works full-time as a rancher. He testified that he is not devoting any effort toward expanding his client list and music business.”

During the case, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband petitioned that the sale of the ranch was to “avoid unreasonable market or investment risks,” however, the courts did not find any evidence to support this claim.

Kelly Clarkson’s Ex Embraces Rancher Lifestyle

We often hear country songs about the hardworking man or woman that moves out to Hollywood to seek a career in music. Ironically, Brandon Blackstock is living that song in reverse. Whether the recent divorce influenced his career change or not, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband seems content trading the glitz and glamour of the recording studio for the dust and dirt of the pastures.

The former music manager even dedicated an Instagram account to his endeavors in the fields. In the past, he’s excitedly shared the arrival of new cattle during “calving season,” as well as other four-legged members of the property.

Although Blackstock is now fully committed to Vintage Valley ranch in Montana, he does have one remaining country music client–Blake Shelton. However, from how much success The Voice judge already has, it’s likely that he won’t need very much hands-on management.
