Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock Divorce: Full Timeline of Pair’s Relationship

Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s relationship has seen its fair share of ups and downs, with more downs in the last year due to their tumultuous separation. To understand the couple’s messy, ongoing divorce, we’re looking back at the pair’s history as a couple.

In late 2011, the “American Idol” winner and Blackstock began dating. The two made their debut as a couple in May of 2012 while attending a party in Tennessee.

One year later, Brandon Blackstock asked Kelly Clarkson to marry him in December 2012. “I’m engaged!” she tweeted at the time. “I wanted y’all to know! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever.”

The two lovebirds got married in October 2013 at Blackberry Farms in Tennesse. According to Clarkson, it was “the most beautiful place ever.”

The pair announced they were expecting their first bundle of joy one month later. They welcomed a daughter in June 2014. Later, in August 2015, the singer-songwriter announced that she was pregnant again with her second child. They welcomed a son, Remington Alexander Blackstock, in April of 2016.

Then, after seven years of marriage, Kelly Clarkson sadly filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020. The talk show host put her Hendersonville home for sale in December 2019, months before the split. The former couple and their children were staying on a ranch in Montana during the pandemic.

Kelly Clarkson & Brandon Blackstock’s Whirlwind of a Relationship

In September of 2020, things continued to worsen when her management company, run by her ex’s father, sued Clarkson. The company alleged Kelly Clarkson owed the company $1.4 million in unpaid commissions.

Clarkson countersued, accusing the company of violating the California Labor Code by “procuring, offering, promising or attempting to procure employment or engagements” without being licensed.

Kelly Clarkson also claimed that Brandon and Narvel’s company defrauded her out of millions by charging her high fees.

As for their children, a court granted Kelly Clarkson primary physical custody of the children in November 2020.

“The Court finds that under the circumstances present in this case, the interest in providing stability and continuity for the minor children weighs in favor of Petitioner having primary custody,” court documents read.

Now, things have seemed to go from bad to worse. It was recently confirmed that the talk show host has to pay her estranged husband $150,000 per month in spousal support and $45,601 per month in child support since April 2021.

A source close to Kelly Clarkson stated that the temporary agreement is in place until the two complete their “formal settlement,” which is “expected to happen soon.” The insider also added that a judge would declare Clarkson legally single in a “matter of days” after filing a motion earlier in the month.
