Kelly Clarkson has been fairly outspoken about her on-going divorce from music manager Brandon Blackstock.

Clarkson’s sharing some of her biggest concerns and inner-thoughts surrounding the separation that started in June. The singer, talk show host, and judge on “The Voice” is professing her thoughts on her show “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”

She starts the show by saying that she will only touch briefly on the subject. However, when chatting with show guest and author Glennon Doyle, Clarkson tells everyone that she relates to Doyle’s book, “Untamed.” Additionally, there’s one part in particular from the book that helped the singer open her eyes.

Clarkson said she realized, “This isn’t happiness, and we both deserve better. That line so hit home for me: I don’t want this for everyone in this scenario right now.”

Clarkson and Blackstock’s time during quarantine helped Kelly realize that this marriage wasn’t for her.

Doyle writes in her book that we believe that we need to avoid a “broken family” at all costs. However, the author realized, “Oh my God, I’m staying in this marriage for [my daughter], but would I want this marriage for her?”

Doyle continues telling Clarkson, “We’ve all been trained to believe a good mother is a liar. I didn’t leave a marriage in spite of being a good mother; I left because I am a good mother.”

Kelly Clarkson Shares Additional Divorce Details

Kelly Clarkson continues to talk with Doyle and tells her what the hardest part of divorce has been.

“It’s horrible. There are so many hard parts. The hardest for me is the kids… I think, as women especially, we’re trained to take it all on and deal with it, and you’re fine,” Clarkson confesses. “But it’s your babies that you worry about.”

The court’s ruled in Clarkson’s favor and awarded her primary custody of her two children, River, 6 and Remy, 4.

The couple has joint physical and legal custody, but Clarkson will have the kids with her during the week and on some weekends. Blackstock gets them on the first, third, and fifth weekends of the month. Additionally, the kids will only have to travel to Montana on that third weekend.

Brandon Blackstock Seeking Hefty Alimony Amount

It’s safe to say that Clarkson’s the primary bread-winner in the relationship. Though her prenup protects her individual earnings, Blackstock is still going after her for money. He’s looking to be paid $436,000 per month in spousal and child support.

“Brandon’s been equally unreasonable in his requests for child and spousal support, as well as attorney fees,” a source close to the family says. “Kelly’s offered to pay for all the kids’ expenses, but Brandon seems to think he is entitled to and needs $301K in spousal support and $135K in child support per month.”

If a judge grants Blackstock’s request, the music manager, 43, would receive more than $5.2 million per year from “The Voice” coach.
