Kelly Ripa devotes a ton of space on her Instagram page to her handsome husband Mark Consuelos.
And why not? If it’s possible, Cousuelos got sexier thanks to a short video clip of the Riverdale star cuddling the family’s recently adopted rescue dog. Kelly Ripa posted the clip to her Instagram Stories. You can click on her profile photo here to check out the adorable video.
The new dog is Lena and she’s a fuzzy Maltese-Shih Tzu mix. Kelly Ripa captioned it “Instaseulos hearts Lena.” And then Lena hearts Instaseulos.” As Consuelos cuddled the dog, the Aretha Franklin song I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You) played in the background.
Lena looks more Shih Tzu, but you can see the white fur of a Maltese peeking out of her undercoat.
The dog looks like a perfect match for the other dog in the life of Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. He’s a blonde Shih Tzu/Lhasa mix named Chewie, who looks like he could be Lena’s older sibling.
Do you ever watch talk shows that devote a segment to dogs and cats in a shelter? Do you ever wonder if anyone ever adopts them. Kelly Ripa hosted a pets segment on her show, Live with Kelly and Ryan. This was back in early March. Lena was one of the dogs on the show, except in the shelter, she was known as Angelina.
After Hosting Show on Pet Adoption, Kelly Ripa Announced Her Family Added a Dog
A week after the show aired, Kelly Ripa announced her family had brought the dog home. The one condition was the dog needed to get along with Chewie.
“My whole fear was that I didn’t want Chewie to feel replaced in any way,” Ripa said on the show.
She then described a touching moment between the two furry pups. It convinced her Chewie was OK with another canine in the family. Ripa said “Chewie was outside (Lena’s) crate, sitting next to her with their noses together.” So sweet.
But the family believed she needed a new name. So Kelly Ripa basically shortened Angelina to Lena. She said the kids had a different suggestion.
“My kids want her to be named Leia, as in Princess Leia, because we have Chewie,” Ripa said. “I don’t know. I need guidance.” Yes, that was a Star Wars reference. Maybe if the couple adopts a boy dog, they can name him Han Solo. A Chewbacca cherishes his best friends.
Last month, oldest son Michael made an appearance on Live with Kelly and Ryan. He talked about how his parents are preparing for their lives as empty nesters. Michael said Lena was helping with the transition from having three kids at home to zero.
“My mom paces around the house holding Lena like a Bond villain,” Michael said.
Kelly Ripa quipped: “There is something so wrong about my relationship with that dog.”
Dogs make everything better.
