Ahead of its debut yesterday, “Riverdale” actor Mark Consuelos shared he was “honored” to share the screen with his son in the show’s newest episode.

Mark Consuelos stars as Hiram Lodge in “Riverdale,” but Mark’s son, Michael Consuelos, played him in flashback sequences, with Mark portraying Hiram’s father in the latest episode. Mark expressed his thoughts acting opposite his son with an Instagram post. It’s no surprise Michael plays a young Hiram. Kelly Ripa even recently noted how the “likeliness is uncanny” between the father-son duo.

“Tonight I have the great honor of sharing the screen with my son @michael.consuelos and the always brilliant @melton they absolutely killed it. A big thank you to @brianepaterson for writing such a beautiful script. @jamesdewille for a masterful job directing this episode. To Louis Ferreira for playing the perfect mentor and gangster Thank you to @writerras for giving me and my family a memory that will last a lifetime. #riverdale

Appropriately, the photo showed the two sitting in a booth at Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, a prominent “Riverdale” locale.

Reactions to Mark Consuelos Starring With His Son In ‘Riverdale’

Mark Consuelos isn’t the only one happy about starring with his son in the newest “Riverdale” episode. Screenwriter Roberto Aguirre-Sarcasa also took to Instagram and noted how special the experience was.

@instasuelos sent me this picture of him and his son @michael.consuelos while shooting tonight’s episode of #Riverdale, beautifully written by @brianepaterson and spectacularly shot by @jamesdewille. It’s a special episode for so many reasons, not the least because it allowed these two handsome fellas to appear in scenes together as father and son. Made the story resonate at such a deep, emotional level. Grateful to them both.”

Michael himself teased his appearance through Instagram a few weeks ago. Funnily, Kelly Ripa commented on the post. She jokingly asked if that was really her son because of how much he resembled Mark.

Incidentally, Michael also portrayed a young Hiram Lodge in “Riverdale” back in 2018. Mark shared similar sentiments then too. “Bucket list moment for Mom and Dad. Congrats to my son Michael on being cast as the younger (and much better and handsomer) Hiram. We are so proud. Love you MJC,” Mark wrote on Instagram.

Reflecting on raising their three children, Ripa recently shared her and Mark’s parenting style.

“As you get older and you learn more, that youngest kid hopefully benefits from a little bit more wisdom … and hopefully fewer nerves,” she said. “I think I had definitive ideas about raising girls versus raising boys, even though I don’t really believe in gender stereotyping. My sons are just as sensitive as my daughter, and my daughter is as strong as my sons.”
