America will find out on Sunday (Feb. 14) if Kellyanne Conway’s daughter Claudia has what it takes to become the next “American Idol.”
A recent trailer for the upcoming episode teased Claudia’s involvement. And judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry, and Lionel Ritchie appeared absolutely shocked that she appeared in their audition chamber. Whether she has the vocal work to back it up or if this is a bit of stunt casting remains to be seen.
For some, Claudia and her mother are controversial figures within the political sphere, depending on your party lines. Kellyanne served as Senior Counselor to President Donald Trump during much of his Administration. But she stepped away from that role in 2020 to focus on her family.
Meanwhile, Claudia has garnered a large following on TikTok. She has a somewhat antagonistic relationship with her mother. In the past, she used the platform to criticize both Kellyanne and the Trump Administration.
Claudia Conway Has Musical Aspirations
But despite any bad blood, Kellyanne is proud of her daughter and her achievements. In an interview last fall, she doted on Claudia and how she always works hard to make her goals happen. Kellyanne also joked that her daughter was literally born singing.
“The last three days have been a whirlwind of interviews, rehearsals, and the actual audition. [Claudia] calls it the ‘coolest experience’ of her life,” Kellyanne said to PEOPLE. “She sets goals and works toward them. Of course, ‘American Idol’ is next level! We are proud of Claudia for entering the arena and sharing her beautiful voice and inspirational message about mental health with others.”
According to Kellyanne, Claudia has been musically inclined since a very young age. When she was five years old, apparently her daughter tried to get her piano teacher fired. But those lessons apparently paid off and eventually led to her “American Idol” audition.
“Claudia tried to ‘fire’ her first piano teacher when she was 5 years old. An inexplicable and embarrassing episode that became my late father’s favorite story,” Kellyanne recalled. “She is much more collaborative now, even as she will sit at the piano for hours teaching herself songs and lyrics by sound and allowing mom to introduce her to the ‘oldies’ from the ’70s and ’80s.”
Viewers will find out soon whether Claudia makes it to Hollywood or how far in the competition she might get.
