The 37th Running of the US Tank All American 400 race weekend is set to take place later this month. From Oct. 29-31, the marquee annual racing event will take over the Nashville Fairground Speedway. The weekend event has tapped the “All Summer Long” singer as grand marshal, but it isn’t his first time in the position.
Back in 2015, Kid Rock served as a grand marshal at that year’s Daytona 500. In addition, he provided the pre-race entertainment with a short set of his hit songs from the infield of the speedway. He’s a big fan of the sport, and even owns a home on a 102-acre plot of land in the Nashville area. Plus he owns a bar on Nashville’s famous Broadway strip, so the choice for grand marshal makes more sense than some may realize.
Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway promoter Bob Sargent shared a statement on Kid Rock’s involvement with the race.
“We are excited to have such an amazing entertainer, Kid Rock, be grand marshal for what is one of the greatest short track racing weekends in the country. Adding his support really speaks to how great and fantastic this weekend will be,” Sargent said, according to the Tennessean. “It’s amazing to bring in greats like Kid Rock to stand next to some of the best short track drivers in the country.”
Kid Rock will also attend the Oct. 30 practice and qualifying events for the All American 400. Further, a temporary pop-up of Kid Rock’s Honky Tonk and Rock ‘N’ Roll Steakhouse will provide food and live performances for fans in attendance.
Kid Rock Hangs Out With ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons
Last we saw Kid Rock, he was hanging out with rock ‘n’ roll royalty. Just last month, the Detroit musician went out with ZZ Top frontman Billy Gibbons and the pair captured a portion of the evening in an epic photo.
The two famous rockers got together following the death of longtime ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill in July. It’s great to see the pair out together, and to witness Gibbons having some fun. Considering Gibbons and Hill have known each other for decades, and been playing together for more than 50 years, we’re sure it’s been a rough few months since his dear friend’s passing.
Therefore a night out on the town might’ve been just what the ZZ Top guitarist needed. Kid Rock shared a pic of the duo at a bar playing pool together. Since only the cue ball is left on the pool table we’re not sure who won, but you can tell the musicians are having a blast.
“Just shootin’ some pool with my rock n roll dad. What ya’ll up to?” Kid Rock wrote on Instagram.
