Kid Rock Donates $100k to Support Small Business COVID-19 Relief Fund

Rock and roll icon Kid Rock is contributing in a big way to help save America’s small businesses, bars, and restaurants that have been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. He’s encouraging his fans and others to do the same.

The famous rock and roller recently made a $100,000 donation to Barstool Sports’ the Barstool Fund. It’s a financial-relief program that has been established to help small businesses in need during the pandemic

Kid Rock took to social media on Monday to announce his donation and hopes others will follow his lead.

“THIS IS THE AMERICA I LOVE! Put me down for 100k,” Rock wrote on Twitter. “And I only post this in hopes others as blessed as me may be moved to help out.”

Kid Rock Donation Will Impact Metro Detroit

With the announcement of Kid Rock’s $100,000 donation, the Barstool Fund has already raised nearly $17 million. As it currently stands almost 140,000 people have supported the cause, which will benefit more than 70 small businesses nationwide. That number includes several in Rock’s hometown of Detroit, Michigan.

Barstool’s Dave Portnoy announced in a video that Barstool would be kicking off the program by donating half-a-million dollars.

“Is this the best plan? No,” Portnoy says. “The best plan is the government getting off their a– and issuing relief. Billions of dollars to these small business owners who are losing their livelihoods.”

He also noted that in order to qualify for funding, businesses need to maintain an active payroll. In announcing the program, Portnoy says that money collected from the fundraiser would be sent to those businesses in order to help keep them going during the COVID-19 shutdown.

“Hopefully we can save as many small businesses as humanly possible,” Portnoy says in the video announcing the funding program.

There are a number of small businesses in Metro Detroit which will be receiving funding. Some of those include Mac’s Acadian Seafood Shack in Saline, Champ’s Pub in Brighton, Salon Volume in Allen Park, and Premier Sports Center in Shelby Township.

Small business owners in need of help due to the impacts of COVID-19 are able to submit an application at TheBarstoolFund.com/apply. For those able to help, you can make a tax-deductible contribution to support small businesses on the Barstool Fund website by clicking “Contribute to the Fund.”

You can also support small businesses by purchasing one of the shirts featured on the Barstool Fund website. 100% of the net proceeds will go towards supporting small businesses.
