With her new Hulu series Dopesick set to premiere in October, Kaitlyn Dever is continuing promotions by posing for the latest issue of Shape.
The former Last Man Standing star shared a few snapshots of her latest magazine cover and interview on Instagram. “Thank you @shape letting me be your cover,” Kaitlyn Dever caption the post.
Kaitlyn was seen in gorgeous colorful patterns for the Djeneba Aduayom photoshoot. According to IMDb, Dopesick gives viewers a closer look at America’s fight against opioid addiction. Kaitlyn Dever plays the role of Betsy Mallum. Her co-stars include Michael Keaton, Peter Sarsgaard, Rosario Dawson, Will Poulter, and John Hoogenakker.
Kaitlyn Dever Talks Acting Career and Her Role Decisions
During the interview with Shape, Kaitlyn Dever opens up about her acting career, which includes how she picks her roles. “I love mixing it up. I never want to be set in stone with anything I do,” the young actress says. She then says she believes there are endless opportunities in the acting industry and she’s constantly reminding herself that she can make anything possible for herself.
While also opening up about playing a young victim of the opioid epidemic in Dopesick, Kaitlyn Devers says,
“These stories deserve to be in the best way possible. I put so much pressure on myself to do all these characters justice. I do things that scare me sometimes. But I’m almost addicted to that feeling.”
Along with Dopesick, Kaitlyn Dever will appear as Zoe Murphy in Dear Evan Hansen. The film is an adaptation of the Tony and Grammy-winning musical about a high school senior with social anxiety disorder. The film will follow his journey of self-discovery and acceptance following the suicide of a classmate.
Speaking about her role, Kaitlyn Dever states, “People will connect with Dear Evan Hansen because this is a musical that lets us feel less alone and less isolated. Especially during a time when we’ve all felt disconnected from our loved ones. And we’ve lost so many lives during the past year. Now more than ever, this movie needs to be done.”
Dear Evan Hansen is set to premiere on September 24th.
Kaitlyn Dever is Beyond Grateful For Her Growing Acting Career
Also during a recent interview with CBS Watch Magazine, Kaitlyn Dever reveals how grateful she is for her acting career. “Overwhelming in a good way. First I’m lucky to be a working actor. And then its a rarity to be working on projects that I am actually genuinely passionate about.”
Kaitlyn Dever also shares it’s a blessing that she’s able to find projects that she loves. But she admits she’s there are some up and downs in her career. “It’s hard having confidence even going into audition rooms and wanting [a part] so badly. But I’ve realized there’s really nothing I can do to change my instinct or change who I am.”
