The Law & Order revival is officially underway, and actor Jeffrey Donovan is responding to the news that he’s going to join the show.
In response to the news, he quote tweeted an article and simply wrote: “Fun fun.”
The actor is known for his work on Burn Notice where he played Michael Weston. According to TV Line, the actor will play an NYPD cop, but not much else is known about his character or position just yet. We also still don’t know who of the original cast (if anyone) is joining the show.
For fans of both Burn Notice and Law & Order, this is awesome news. On top of playing Michael Weston on Burn Notice, Donovan has also been in Crossing Jordan, Shut Eye, Touching Evil, and Fargo. Like many actors, Donovan has been in the Law & Order franchise before as a side character. Seriously, being on Law & Order or one of its spinoffs is a right of passage at this point.
When he was on the show, he played video game reviewer Eddie Nicodos in a 1995 episode. Then, in 2007, he played Jacob Reese, a religious zealot.
Not Much Else is Known about the Rest of the ‘Law & Order’ Reboot Cast
Aside from Jeffrey Donovan, the Law & Order revival is keeping things pretty tight-lipped for now. We do know the show will pick up where it left off over a decade ago. NBC cancelled the series quite suddenly after 20 seasons, much to the devastation of showrunner and famous executive producer Dick Wolf, who will, of course, be behind the revival.
At the time of its cancellation, Jeremy Sisto, S. Epatha Merkerson, Sam Waterston, Anthony Anderson, and Linus Roache were regulars on the series. Many of these actors have since gone on to star in other Dick Wolf Productions.
“Law & Order is quite simply one of the most iconic shows in television history, and the idea of continuing its legacy and partnering with Dick on an all-new season is nothing short of exhilarating,” Chairman of Entertainment Content at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming Susan Rovner said in a statement. “This is great news for NBC as well as TV fans everywhere.”
Fans are already discussing which characters they really want to see come back to the revival, and all eyes are on the new Law & Order as they hopefully recruit old actors as well as some great new people.
You may have some waiting to do before the Law & Order reboot gets off the ground, but if you were a fan of the original, Law & Order: SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime are airing new episodes back to back every Thursday night starting at 9/8 Central.
