While gearing up for the next season of his hit CBS series Law & Order: Organized Crime, Christopher Meloni post on his Instagram a hilarious video message to his former Law & Order: SUV co-star, “Marsha” (aka Mariska Hargitay).
“Marsha. I’ve been told I broke the internet. Do you need scotch tape or glue? Hope you’re feeling good. Yeah,” the Law & Order star declares in the post, which references his previous post that includes a shot of him and Hargitay Facetiming on Friday (August 6th).
The Law & Order castmates’ followers took to Instagram to share their excitement about the duo’s posts. One follower comments, “Marsha Marsha Marsha! @therealmariskahargitay 🤣🤣🤣😜.”
Mariska also responds to the post with a screenshot that reads, “The close up #YoureWelcome #beardedbestie #eyeseeyou #UpCloseAndPersonal #YouNeededIt.”
Meloni Opens Up About Why He Left ‘Law & Order: SUV’
During his recent interview with Men’s Health, Meloni opens up about what led to his first exit from the Law & Order franchise. He admits that he suggested a solution to NBC when the network refused to pay him more money to continue the role as Detective Elliot Stabler.
“My thought was: Instead of 22 episodes, bring me back for nine episodes, or bring me back for 18 episodes. They literally came to me on a Thursday night and said, ‘This is the deal. We want the answer by tomorrow. It’s our way or no way,’” Meloni recalls. He eventually had enough and told the network to help him figure out his franchise exit.
Meloni then discusses what it took to bring him back to the franchise in the new spin-off series. “This time around with the Law & Order ride, I’m not stressed out by ‘Will it go well? Will it not go well?’ Not that I know how it’s going to go.”
Meloni and Hargitay Look Back On Their Friendship Over the Years
Although they were originally partners on Law & Order: SVU, Meloni and Hargitay are now super close. During their interview with People, Meloni says the friendship began at the SVU’s screen test. “[We both] walked into the screen test, me telling her a store, and we get up on stage in front of all the suits and we’re just so engaged.”
Hargitay further explains that she and Meloni both know something big happened when they first met. “I won’t say that I fully understood it, but I knew that meeting him was important and life-changing.”
Despite his original exit from Law & Order: SVU, Meloni and Hargitay still remained close and stayed connected. When the duo reunited for Meloni’s new show, he reacted, “It was Pavlovian: Ring that bell, and you get right into Stabler and Benson.”
Hargitay goes on to add that Meloni always makes her feel like she could just jump off the ledge and he would catch her. “In so many ways, whether it was comedy or acting or friendship.”
“It’s simple. We have each other’s back,” Meloni concludes.
